Most people will tell you you don't have to...

But they're there, so why not?

I care more about my motor overheating than my turbo, so I choose not to use the water cooling section of the turbo. Think about how much extra heat that turbo is kicking into the coolant system. You might say "Well they came stock on cars and they don't have any problems", and while that is true, they were also designed to use a water cooled turbo. Your typical Honda cooling system wasn't designed to cool down a turbo.

This is exactly why I chose not to. Watercooling is designed for lazy people that can't idle there car before shutdown.

so my car should be good if i let my car idle for about a min before cutting it off? It would be so much nicer not run water lines. Plus with the part about your car overheating it makes since due to the fact that you will have less airflow due to the loss of one fan and a front mount in the way of the radiator.

You should be fine. I'll idle my car for about 30 sec to a minute depending on how hard I drive it.

----...just get a better fan for your radiator and run that ...they sell 2600cfm fans on ebay and you can hardwire them to run all the time....

i had my watercooled 14B hooked up for well over 6 months and the temperature gauge never went past where it normally was with the engine non-turbo.

hook it up.

I live in AZ where the outside temperature is already pretty close to operating temperature so adding extra heat to the cooling system will bite me in the ***, especially at stop lights.
What advantages do you see from hooking it up? Better cooling for the turbo? Who gives a ----? That ****** runs at glowing red hot temperatures. Let it run hot and let my cooling system cool the motor, not the turbo.

Well lets look at this...
By running only a oil lines on a water/oil turbo you:
1) increase temp of the turbo
2) increase the temp of the oil that is passing through it, which is going to soon be going through your motor.
3) that oil, unless you have an oil cooler is going to get hotter and hotter, then the heat from the turbo that goes into the oil, that has to pass through the block, to the waterjacked will then be passed through your radiator and wow... looks like your ---- is getting hotter no matter what.
4) the excess heat that would be taken away by the water cooling section will raise the oil temps breakin down the oil vicosity causing premature failure of your oil. (so you'll need to change it every ~1500 miles instead of 3k miles, if it is regular mineral based oil.
5) If you're worried about overheating at stop lights, then do like i said above and purchase a larger 2 core radiator (if you have the room) and then pickup a 2600cfm fan. 2600cfm's is a hell of a lot air. your stock honda fan pushes something like 800cfm's.
6) last but not least, hotter turbo = more heat will be passed to the air that is going to your intercooler = higher charge temps.

hmm sounds crazy to me, but i'd just hoook up the water jacket...it will prolong the turbo life and keep the overall average temp of your system down.

if you want to break down the underhood temp even more, wrap your manifold w/ heat wrap and the downpipe all the way to past the oil pan, it will help flow too...then get the bigger fan, wrap your charge pipes w/ heat wrap to prevent heat soak, btw, you should disconnect the throttle body loop to take down charge temps if you wanna do that too....

just my 0.03cents
