You don't have to change the stock flywheel if your upgrading the clutch, but you can gain a few extra Hp and save weight by upgrading the flywheel to a lightweight performance flywheel.

You need to get the flywheel surfaced so it breaks in with the new clutch otherwise your new clutch will live a short life. As for how long it should take, it depends on how mechanicaly inclined you are. I would say around 3 hours, but after you remove the tranny you will have to take the flywheel to a machine shop to get it surfaced. Also don't be a lazy ass and try to do it without removing the axles. It really makes it a bitch.

There is a thread about Exedy clutches around here. Yes you need to get it resurfaced. It doesn't matter how many miles are on it. Its kinda like putting new pistons into a block without honeing it. It needs a new surface to break into. Please get it resurfaced. It doesn't cost that much and it will prolong the life of your clutch dramaticaly.

I'd personally suggest using the stock flywheel. If you shift, your RPM my drop low enough that you will loose all positive manifold pressure (I.E. Boost) and just bog like nobodys buisness. A flywheel is designed to STORE energy, not just to waste it.

I don't want to hear that. I just ordered a 7lb. CM flywheel. I guess I will see how it does. :-\
