do any of you use hondabond on your oil pan?
when you put your oil pan back on, do you use hondabond along with the gasket, or you just replace the gasket?

Only on the corners. I wouldn't coat the whole thing. Just where the humps are.

Re:do any of you use hondabond on your oil pan?
what the ---- is hondabond and where do you get it, the honda dealership? or can you pick it up at the parts store, but it just so happens to be called honda bond? and yeah, can you just use any type of liquid gasket shiet?

Re:do any of you use hondabond on your oil pan?
Hondabond is made by honda and can be found at any Honda parts dealer... ive always used it on the oil pan corners along with the gasket. but personally i think any RTV sealer will work just fine.

Re:do any of you use hondabond on your oil pan?
I jsu tfinger smear a bit around the whole thing and in the corners, I know it might not need it but better safe then sorry!

Re:do any of you use hondabond on your oil pan?
I made the mistake of Hondabonding my whole gasket, lol that ---- did NOT wanna come off the next time around.
Just the corners/hump is fine. I stoped Hondabonding the gear side cam seals cause' the seals would tear before the bond would. Its good ----, but VERY expensive. The anabolic SP? red ---- from napa is also a very good, acts the same. Its also pretty pricey as well, but worth it IMHO. Oil leaks are gay. |
Re:do any of you use hondabond on your oil pan?
i asume you guys are useing the honda bond on the turbo oil line drain flange ?
Did any one try using this way ? i used drilled and taped a hole in the pan with 3/8 NPT tap and die set and jsut screwed in a 3/8 NTP fitting with a 3/8 hose barb on the end of it . no leaks no hondabond , 97cents at boat US for the fitting its in the fuel fittings isle |
Re:do any of you use hondabond on your oil pan?
i used to use some silicone gasket sealer stuff from nappa on my valve cover gasket and i noticed a slight bit of leakage. Now I only use hondabond and there is no leakage at all :)
