diesel turbo

so the turbo is a MHI TC05-10A. its pretty small (around the size of a sprint turbo maybe a bit bigger) and its off a 4x4 Raider. I wana throw it on a D15. Ive been told diesel turbos spool differently than gasoline turbo... is there any truth to it? also read they cause excess heat...

anyone know how wel it will work?

Re: diesel turbo

They are different but they still work just as good. I used a toyota surf one off a 2.4TD on a D16 and it went good.

I think they're different in terms of A/R sizes and trims from that of a normal gasoline engine turbo. Ever see the diesel turbos with the HUGE exhuast housing and smaller compressor?

Re: diesel turbo

note that sizing is gonna be different, as they need it to be efficient in different places, i have a turbo from the 5.9 straight six dodge diesel (holset HY35 with 9cm exhaust housing) and you have to realize that the dodge is only gonna rev to ~3800rpm maybe, and my KA is gonna rev to ~6800rpm, not to mention the HY35 stock wastegate is set at 23psi... frankly holsets can be some badass turbo's, but i often see people on here and HT (only in the holset users unite thread) running holsets WAY to big and they dont care about spoolin till like 6k, not my cup of tea, hell some of the guys there thought the HY35 was too small for their D16, i think its a PERFECT fit on my KA (2.4l)... sorry though dont know anything about your turbo specifically.
