Deciding on a t3/t4

In the next 3 or 4 months I am going to start piecing together my parts to do a built bottom turbo z6.

One thing I can't really figure out what I wanna do, is the turbo. I am pretty sure its gonna be a t3/t4 of some sort, but I want some suggestions as to what trim, what AR's.

I am looking to make about 350 to the wheels, don't want an extremely late spool, but don't want to go too small.

I was thinking maybe something like this:
t3/t4e hybrid, 57 trim compressor wheel, .50 compressor/.48 exhaust

Think I would be good with something that size, or am I going too big? too small?

Re:Deciding on a t3/t4

On a d-series a .48 is going to be very quick spool up. The compressor side I think is right on target its not a very quick spool up but it's quick and can pull hard on top end to. I think that turbo would go great to make 350hp or even 400 with the right components and tuning. ;)

fook i just strapped on a blaast performance t3/t04b .48/60 with a 57 trim wheel. it spools nice and pulls like a train compaired to my super60....i say go for that one. it was only 460 shipped brand new and he ships fast....and its rated to 425 hp

my D16Z6 uses a T3/04E .48/60 with 50 trim..
it lags but not too bad...and pulls until(went pass)stock redline.
when i said not too bad i meant not bad at high speed (higher rpm).
1st gear lags like a bitch, gets better as gear gets higher

I just bought a T3/T04E 57trim .60compressor and .63 turbine. I'm sure this turbo is going to make the power but I'm wondering what the spool time's going to look like

Yeah thats true. So you'd pick the sc34 over a t3/t4? Can you educate me a little on that choice?

^^ ball bearings, nucka

I could see one down side to that already.

I mean its one thing for me to ruin a GReddy turbo, but a $750 Precision SC turbo, I'd die.

they say wheel design. I personally think all the precision turbos are hype except the sc61. I would just get a regular Garrett.

Re:Deciding on a t3/t4

SC's are high performance T3/T4's Garrett's performance divison is Precision turbos. People are making great #'s with them and are worth every penny. Unfortunetly they are not ball bearing, but I'd still sport one any day.

All Hype? The SC family has proven to make great #'s especially the SC61. Come on Whitey, you know you want one, then you will be offically on the HT bandwagon ;)

hah,

hah,

The only reason I say they're hype is cause besides the SC61 they are all just overpriced T3/T4. I think the SC61 is worth the money cause it comes standard with the 360 thrust bearings and all the options. But the rest of the precision family are just rebadged garrett stuff. So there's no point in paying the extra for the precision name. Yeah precision says they do super cool top secret stuff to them to make it better but I can't see your setup being that great to maximize all that potential. So I say stick with a garrett turbo and invest that extra into another part of the motor.

And Jeff you know me too well cause

My bitch will be a GT series turbo cause ball bearings are the way to go. GT35R with a 63 compressor is what I want (and get rid of the d-series).

Re:Deciding on a t3/t4

Precision does use all Garrett componets, however The housings are made by precision themselves, The exhaust housings are extruded honed and have a nicer ported aluminum compressor housings. The SC61 uses the Compressor wheel out of the GT30R . The 82mm, 56 Trim GT40 compressor. The -0015 is the 76mm 56 Trim. 10 lb/min less flow. The 82mm/56 Trim can also be found in some GT35R's. The SC60, SC51, SC53, SC54 all have a 60-1 compressor wheel. The only difference is the family of turbines that drive the compressor.

The only reason to go with a precision is for the sizing options, if your on a tight budget just stick with a garrett.

lol, leed uses a SC61 on his stock b16a and it pulls pretty damn hard. Trust me, if I had my heart set on one I'd get it. I just have found that I'm in love with ball bearing turbos more than anything. Just for you whitey I'm gonna get a Precision spec GT35R :-*
