D16Z6 W/ 1G-GTE Supra turbo

the turbo is a CT12C from a Supra w / 1G-GTE They run twins on the supra... I can ge tthe turbo for $50 , but I am being cautious.. I don't
want it to weeze out on the D16Z6... I searched the forum and google , no one references use of the turbo on a honda... Just trying to keep things cheap for the GRM challenge.

I would use a mitsu turbo. You'll push that CT turbo hard, and when you do if it has ceramic wheels (which I think it does) it'll blow up on you.

get both turbos, break the welder out, and run twins. Can't be too much lag, especially if you could hook up the sequential features somehow. but yeah 1 of those turbos must be really small.

id run somthing bigger than that its a pea shooter turbo. Not much bigger than a t25 i believe. Id say get a T3 60/63

---- it man, run it. i drove a d15 with a K03 setup that my buddy did. it wasnt very fast up top, bot spool up was instant, it drove great, and was a ton of fun to flog around. i say put it on, get it tuned on 12 pounds (which im 100% sure the ceramic blades can handle for a looooong time) and have a fun little street car.

Those turbo's are super tiny man. They wouldn't be bad for the auto-x portion of the event, but in the drag racing portion, I think you will get handed to... I would consider something a bit larger, unless you cant find anything for cheaper.

Reguardless to what people say, those turbo's will hold some boost. Ive got a few friends with that motor in their supra and they haven't had any problems at all...and they are the factory turbo's.

Do it man, Ive got a Y8 with a 1jz CT12 on it right now, have to run my charge pipes b4 i can see how it can hang, but it spools at idle with the 450's in :6 I think it was the ct12 from the newer supras that got the ceramics. CT12b if i remember correctly.

The way i see it the 3.0l 1g-gte was running 2 of these turbos, 1 of them should be able to handle a D.

Definately gonna get stomped at the track, but it should make for a fun DD.

I have asked the help of the members on my local forum ..

Came up with a T25 from a 1G talon and a pair of twins froma 300zx TT

I want some top end pull , so I think I will skip the Supra Unit.

if anyone wants them , he is asking $200 for 2

Re: D16Z6 W/ 1G-GTE Supra turbo

The 1jz was 2.5L, and the twin CT12A's were giving the motor ~225hp, while twin CT12B's gave it 280+. The CT12x's are ceramic blades (delaminates at high boost/high egt's), export supras/etc got the CT20's with stainless turbines.

In other words - tiny turbos. You can spool them by farting into them. O0
