d16z6 turbo help

i just put a z6 with a homade turbo kit in my 90si hatch. the car is running but real shitty. everytime i get into boost @ about 5lbs @ 4000rpms it starts detenating. i was running dsm 450s and vafc but it ran to rich. so now i got stocks back in with 12/1 vortech fmu, the car idels alot better now. but its still detenating.i have the vafc flat lined at zero. i think it is timing because i dont know where it needs to be set. my wastegate is a 11lb spring and the car will not go to 11 only 5lbs then it start detenating.....if any one knows about this or has had a z6 turbo these are my ?s

1 where should timing be center or retarded if so how much?
2 what is the best fuel manegment for me to run.
3 where should the vafc be set at

thanks

Re: d16z6 turbo help

#1. do NOT do an FMU. fmu= fucks motors up
#2. read the faq on this thread on how to scale back your injectors to tune them properly with the hack. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...threadid=14497
if that doesnt work then.......
#3. get your ecu chipped and tunned. this is really the only way to go. when tunned properly itll run like stock. not tunned properly and your engine could detonate at only 5 psi

The VAFC advances the ignition timing during normanl operation so, you should retard the distributor to about 7 degrees BTDC (this is what worked very well for me). After you've done that, follow drunkinmaster1 instructions and check the FAQ for how to set the VAFC.
