hey everyone how much hp do you think the z6 rod can handle and still be reliable, what about shot peened ones?

 

also forgot what about the d16a1 rods and pistons which are the same as the ZC, how much hp can d series pistons handle? can you runs 13s or maybe even high 12's on stock and be dependable, thanks

 

I made 216whp at 10 psi on a stock d16z6 and have been running about that much power for 6 months. I am going to start running more boost at the track 14ish psi or so. My best times so far are 13.3 @ 102mph on slicks and 13.4 @ 105 mph on drag radials and should be running high 12's this weekend. I will let ya know how it goes.

 

d16a1 and ZC rods are the same 88-91, the 86-87 rods are the largest/strongest d-series, unless you can find a set for cheap I wouldnt worry about it, they probably hold another 50whp tops. Regular d16 rods are pretty weak, I would push over 250whp with stock ones.

 

would the beefier 87 teg rods still fit the pistons on a 88-89 teg ? just wondering...or would machining be required.?

 

dammit i had a brand new set of d16a1 rods, i could tell they were a bit beefier, i shoulda kept them. do you think stock can handle 250whp?

 

sorry to go off subject... but what turbo set up are you running thats ALOT of horsepower and fast time on a stock z6.......
