D16z6, 14b. Full boost at what RPM?
 

I've got a D16Z6 with 14b and it seems to be spooling slower and slower and making less boost. After work, i'm gonna pressure-test it but that brings me to a question - when should I be expecting full boost (~8psi). Right now its about 4000rpm which sounds a bit high for that size turbo.

I did 3200-3400 on a DOHC ZC I think. It's been a while.

on my y7 / 14b (or what the ---- ever it is) i get full boost (~8psi) at around 3800rpm.

hmm maybe im being too picky then and everything is fine. Still gonna pressure test stuff and investigate the wastegate. I twas running ~9-10 psi now its runnign more like 6. something is up

mine was around 4000 (10 psi)...but i was having issues with the wastegate too. next turbo setup im definetly going external.

i was getting full boost (11 psi) by about 3700 with a stock cat.

I'm a ------- loser. I guess when I welded the BOV flange on, it warped a little. A little bit of RTV, refastened and it's running like a raped ape (I should know)

That all seems kind of high for a 14 b. I was getting full boost on my stock z6 at 2800 rpm.

I have K03 on a 1.5EDM that is d15z6 vtec and I have boost from 2000+ but full boost is over 4000. I am runing around 13psi and the car rips hard.

Are you running a "stock" engine? What do you have done to it? I have the same turbo and don't think my engine(D16Z6) is capable of handling more then 8psi!

K03's are small. I heard of a couple guys sneaking them into jail. I bet a stock z6 could run 16psi on a K03 easy, if the turbo could keep up with the motor that is.

Alright, all bullshit aside, could i increase my boost to like 15psi and not grenade the engine??? A good friend of mine has an Audi 1.8t with this exact same stock turbo and he's running it at 18psi!!!
Seriously, could i increase my psi without any carnage???

I'm using the stock internal WG, what to do???Unplug the vac line? maybe i'll try it tomorrow.

im a noob....and i know that a wastegate wont work with out a vac line!!!! because then it cant register anything....and since wg's neutral state is close....u are goin to make a bomb!!!!

Thanks -------, i was being serious about the question i posted, you might think that some of these posts could become usefull in the future for other noobs! I've learned alot reading these posts and got lots of good answers from other members on do's and dont's while i was working on my car, and people like you that are only in for the laughs at other people's expense make me ----'n mad. If you're so educated on boost'd engines, why not help other's out with you're bad experiences and expalin what you've learned when a question pops up!?

me too, only with 12psi and a d16z6 with 2.5" charge piping and a 8" tall cooler.

i got a y8 /14b/ 2.5" charge/exhaust, i think exhuast makes a difference in spool time a little too, put a resinator on and it seem to spool slight slower, about 3.8kish for me to. also the hot weather makes my ---- just all around slower, cant compress the hot ass 100 degree air as good or soimthin.

sucks cause i was sellin my car, let this guy test drive after talkin for a while, car felt slow as balls 3 people in it it was like 98degrees out

My old 14b/z6 with a 2.5" exhaust started boosting right around 2800. Full 12psi was about 4100 with the old-school carb spring wastegate setup. ;D That thing actually worked really good too...never dropped below 12psi in any gear :)

you could turn it up to 15 lbs without it grenading but you might wanna bump up the rising rate to compensate :1
Oh the d15z6 does not exist. Its a d15b2 thank you very much I have the same motor. On the block its just gonna say d15b right?. How does a small turbo take from 2000 to 4000 to spool up?
