Some people use a T3 turbo with an A/R .42/.48 because they are common. This turbo spool quickly and depending on your setup, can yield 200 whp or more. Some people like myself use a T3 turbo with A/R .48/.60. This turbo has a good spool time (minimal lag) and can yield up to 300 whp. Don't be a lazy ass, and do some research if you haven't done so yet. Again, it depends on what you want 8). |

.48/.60 Sounds perfect for your application. JP |
Re: d16 turbo
i dont know what you mean by having rods and pistons.300 is gonna be pretty tough with a sohc. your gonna need a big turbo, nos to spool it, big injectors, properly built motor, and a really good tune. most people on this site realisticly get 200 to maybe 250 with a good tune out of a sohc. if you want to get bigger power, you need to go dohc. then maybe youll hit 300 hp. and dont forget the other stuff that youll need to get to that goal like a good clutch, fuel pump, good flowing exhaust, good tires make a huge differance, intercooler, colder sparkplugs...etc etc etc

Re: d16 turbo
youll find a lotof built SOHC's at turbod16.com making more than 300whp without spray.

Re: d16 turbo
To make a reliable 250-300 WHP you'll need the following:
1. Forged rods, pistons and a good set of rings. 2. Good flowing manifold. 3. Free flowing exhaust system - 2.5" to 3". 4. T3 turbo - at least A/R .48/.60. 5. Larger injectors - DSM 450cc (because they are cheap and easy to get). 6. Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump - to make sure you have sufficient fuel when needed. 7. A 2.5 or a 3 bar map sensor. 8. Some will suggest reinforcing the block by adding aftermarket sleeves or filling the block or block posting or a block guard (there are good and bad views about the block guard). 9. Some will suggest porting the head and a getting a 3 or 4 or 5 angle valve job. 10. Colder spark plugs - stick with NGK. TUNING IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT. Search the forum and you will find most of the items listed above - very good quality and very good prices. YOU ARE A LAZY ASS NOOB :y. YOUR QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED MANY TIMES BEFORE. SEARCH BEFORE YOU ASK THE NEXT ONE 8). |
Re: d16 turbo
drunkinmaster needs to watch what he is sayin there are people hitting over 500 hp with the sohc so think before typen plus it easy to hit 250 to 300 hp with a sohc. if money grows on tree for you.. you can do it
|
Re: d16 turbo
You also need to upgrade your clutch and pressure plate, and you need an engine management system (eg Uberdata) to control air/fuel mixture, timing, etc.
|
Re: d16 turbo
i never said that it be impossable to hit 300 hp reliably, like i said you need to do alot to achieve that goal. you cant just slap a turbo on and have 300 hp out of a sohc. there alot involved just like stanB said.

Re: d16 turbo
How about 554 hp? Get this, the tuner sounds liked it was his only car and daily driven! Here's the link http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1345861 and you'll see the that car.
Does it cost money yeah but it also costs to switch over to dohc so why not turbo this awesome power from this great motor. Also, reliability comes from tune and how much abuse will this motor see daily. |
