D16 Setup
I'm asking a question for a friend who has a 96 Civic 4Dr not sure what engine but i'm guessing it's a SOHC non-vtec, it's 5spd and has about 60,000 on it from what he told me. He wants to bolt on a turbo right off the start since he figured his engine is almost brand new, and asked me which turbo should he get, I have no idea so i'm asking you guys his hp goal is about 230ish at 8psi, the only turbo I can think of is a GT28RS, because he said a GT35R but that seems to be overkill if you ask me, suggestions please!! Also if you know where he could find some piping for the kit let me know because he plans on installing it himself!

Re:D16 Setup
I dont have much experience however from reading countless articles on this I would have to say do with t3/t4. It will spool nicely, will give the power he needs and more, and most importantly wont crap out on him in the high rpm range. He should also use some dsm 450's and uberdata to back that up so it dont lean out and grenade the motor.

Re:D16 Setup
If he's got the money for a GT series turbo, don't cheap out on dsm 450s, get a new set of injectors. If he plans on 230, he should upgrade fuel system. He can probably find charge pipes and intercooler that will bolt up, but will likely require a custom downpipe to mate up with the turbo. I think it will like the gt28 fine, that is a sweet turbo. Check ebay or contact any company that sells turbo kits and ask if you could just buy their turbo and charge pipes. I haven't seen any kits available that are built with the gt series turbos (but they might be available).

Re:D16 Setup
Why is the GT28RS such a good turbo someone please explain?

Re:D16 Setup
It's ball bearing and it's a GT-series...You can't compare it to the old tech T-series Garret's. It uses a GT wheel it's more effient.
