D16 Build and Block Notching
I figured out what I wanted to do with my civic. Currently I have a D16Z6 running on crome pro, 450cc's and a DSM T25 on 8 psi. All stock internals and runs great. Get 33 mpg all the time. I want to start building a D16 to go in when my current one blows. I found a D16Z6 block with full internals for $60. I want to tear it down, hot tank the block, get the crank polished, and grab some forged rods. I think the combo I want to use is vitara 75.5mm bore pistons, eagle H rods, Blox block guard, and ARP bolts all around. I will get the cylinders bored to spec with the pistons to avoid slapping. My main questions is I have to notch the block to clear the new rods. Has anyone done this? Is it hard to do? Any advice or tips. I pretty sure I can do, just don't know exactly what to do. Word! My goal is to run 15ish psi and not sure which turbo yet. I know this set up can do 300 easy.

---- the block gaurd and notching is not hard but if you do not feel compitent doing it then take it to the machine shop and have them do it. if i were you i would get the fjt rods to go with the pistons instead of the eagles. and get a decent turbo

No one else has done this? I'm pretty sure you put it together and then see where it is hitting and grind it out. Maybe there is something on the turbod forum.

wat i am doin is putin the rods on the crank turning the crank to where it hits ..marking it than breaking out the old dremel.....repeat 7 times

just mark out the center of the cylinder. you need about an inch or so to total, and grind about 1/4" in or less. round all edges in the process and rotate the crannk. if it doesnt hit, then " good job." you get a cookie. wash that ---- out FULLY, and oil the whole sleeve immediately

dont shave too much from one side... you dont want that ---- un balanced
