d15b7 forged pistons

Hi,

I am new here...and I've been amazed at what ppl have accomplished around here, especially with the help that guys give out. I've been reading alot about turbo-ing a d15b7 which is what I have in my 93 DX Hatch now. I know that the b7 comes with some weak rods and can't surpass 200whp without proper tuning. I am going to try to shoot to 300whp with forged pistons....my question is now, will the forged pistons hold out to 300whp? I don't really want to surpass 300whp because of traction especially in these hatchies.

your gonna spend $1200 on rods and pistons for the D15B7, $733 for the Crower rods ALONE!

when you could do it for $700 on a D16A6 bottom end.........

Buy a cheap D16A6 bottom end now, build it up, then have it ready to swap in.........

not too many 300+ whp d15b7's. worlds fastest 1.5 jason whitefield is the only one I know of and that was 8 years ago or so he did run 10.20's though

hm....d16 does sounds nice but...can't find many up here...ppl tend to take it at a chance given. Oh well...I guess I'll just turbo this d15 until I find a d16 or until it blows...thinkin of settin it at 7-8 psi with uberdata. Thinking of tuning it my self....sounds like its not that hard, college algebra i heard was harder. Thanks Guys.

It's not really the pistons. It's the rods. You could installed ARP rod bolts. There cheap for like 35 shipped I think from Lighting motorsports. Their always having ARP sales. It's the rod bolts that usually go on those first then out pops a rod off the side of your block.

Another thing. I don't think your going to want to use the same turbo as you would on a street safe B7 and a 300whp A6 or ZC or Z6 or whatever.

couldn't the z6 rods be customed to fit on the b7 though? Forged rods are really that expensive for the b7 eh? Any link the price sections of any online store for the rods?

no.
if there was a chance by changing crank or a deck spacer or a custom piston with weird piston pin height....
it would be way more expensive than picking up a d16 block. and the d16a6 go for nothing.
save yourself some money and the headache.

Last time I checked you can't even get ARP headstuds for a D15. Just bite the bullet and find a 1.6 or just leave the 1.5 alone and boost that until she blows like blue whale! "Thar she blows! Arrrrr >:D
