d15 turbo owners/QUESTIONS
ok ive read around here on boosting a stock d15,but how much boost can i safely run on a high milaged b7?i was thinking like 8psi.also i suppose i should just use some dsm 370cc instead of the stock ones or would they work?im looking to spend THE LEAST AMOUNT OF MONEY as possible on this setup cuz after it shits im swapping the gsr in it.i currently have a mbc, garret gt17 turbo,so its very small( .42/.48 or vise versa) and a dsm smic.i plan to use uberdata if anything...do i HAVE to use any fuel management on this ---- project?if so what are my limitations?what size ic piping should i run as well as a dp?
any d15 turbo owners....what kinda numbers have you seen?times?what do you think?and what exactly is your setup? |

ok thanks,now given that the compression check results in good news,how much boost can it safely handle on stock internal(i know tuning has alot to do with this but im looking for a roundabout answer).
i know im cheaping out on this kit,but its bc this is my first attempt at boosting and figure this is a good motor to use,as well as not being concerned about blowing it up bc i have another car and whatnot... as for the fmu or uber,i will pry go with uber since itll be cheaper to go that route i would think.but i will look into fmu's as well,should i get 10:1 or 12:1? any other opinions? |

you should have an ecu that can be chipped. u could then use it for the gsr motor also.
dont waste your money on fmu and missing link. try to use parts that can be used with the gsr motor. turbo, injectors, i/c, piping and dp. minor mods might be needed but it'll be cheaper. go hf manifold for now and buy a good turbo mani later with the b18. |

it should be fine with 10psi, especially if you are going to skip the fmu and get a chipped ecu thats tuned.

yeah i have a b7 turbo, and it romps...10 psi daily...14b turbo,hf manifold,greddy type s bov, 3inch dp, 2inch intercooler piping, cone filter, fmic, 1991 crxsi cam, d16y8 intake mani,z6 tranny...put down 209hp 179tq not too shabby....on uberdata with 450ccc lots of timing could still be pulled...so more power is there.

i'm runnin 8psi on my B7 but thats with stock injectors and no tuning system what so ever...i'm workin on my b18a right now so i really don't care about the B7...and thats an everyday driven car that beat a 2001 gt mustang with little mods on it...t3/t4 turbo, tial wg, FMIC, rfl bov, 2.5'ic piping...

awsome,thats exactly the kind of info i needed...i have a choice of dsm 310s or 450s...which would be better..i dont want overkill and bad gas milage either...
turboboostedek,how long have you had your setup?how do you manage air/fuel? benny,thats some impressive numbers,id love to put down 200whp.ever run it at the track? |

i've got a s-afc right now to do a/f...i've had this setup for like a month now...no problems except for overheatin for like 2 days cuz i had a crack in my radiator...i'd get the 440cc injectors...310s might be ok...but i can't really tell you...ask someone who knows alittle more about it...

why are you guys telling him psi numbers, screw psi. Horsepower is what blows up stock components, aside from tuning. Tune it well with uberdata and it can handle around 200 hp.
