d15 hf turbo project. help

me an my buddy just want to experiment a d15 mtr, we were wondering what we would need to run low boost, possible
a safe range for 190k mtr. we know we need to get the d-series manifold, a junkyard turbo, pipings, oil line, intercooler, and we kind of need more feed back on what else we need ,,,i mean it is a low budget project. As long as it works safe, and we can learn more about tuning it, so i can turbocharge all my cars.
which car's turbo? (volvo saab, mitsitbishi, benz,...)
which manifold??
computer for a/f setting ?
controller for boosting,?
and any nessasy part to run a safe turbo set up.. thankx

1st if all mate Please Read FAQ.... >:(

Turbo wil probably come from a Saab/Volvo
T3 .43 Trim, a manifold and downpipe.
Bov
Buy a manifold from stealthmode.
oil lines buy them from stealthmode
bigger injectors 450cc DSM
intercooler+charge pipes
SAFC >- control air and fuel
No generic setting for them/ all cars a diffrent

Re:d15 hf turbo project. help

Its all about fuel mangment and tuning.
Its hard to say what the safe boost will be for the engine
lots of variables involved.

as for the settings. I dont know.

Re:d15 hf turbo project. help

read the turbo projects, that will show you almost every piece you need.

6-8psi max i'd say for you. with your intended setup.

*Wise man say*

If you read FAQ and have to ask the same questions again.
Then you shouldn't be doing anything at all.

*Wise man also say*

instead of turboing the d15 why not buy an A6 or Z head?
Tossing that puny Hf head will get you a lot more power for just a c-note and change......

i don't know about how much boost safely but i am running 8 on my d15 with hf manifold, dsm bov,450's,afc,dsm smic, had no problems yet been running for about 5 months so go for it if it blows its not much money for one of those motors ;D

thankx orangeturbo and crxsi88, liek i said i read those pages already , is just more informative to answer from helpers like u guys 4 a beginner like us, we woulda swap the head if i wanted to go spend that time n go n/a.i just want to experiment turbo wit it. so we can gether up the parts n go as low buget as possible, we are not trying run 15sec or any lower, we want to learn. so around how much would every necessaty 4 boosting cost me,,?

Re:d15 hf turbo project. help

You can't swap a A6/Z6 head on a HF.... The HF doesn't have valve reliefs for 16Vs, only 8V...

My friend put a JRSC @5.5psi on his HF with 240K miles AND a zex 55shot !!! The car was still kinda slow... The HF tranny is prob. going to do the most damage to the "speed" of the car.

Remember boost is how much air your engine CAN NOT USE and the HF has extremly tiny intake ports, head ports, T/B, and number of valves. 8psi on a D16A6 is prob. 2X the amount of air as 8psi on a HF.

The HF also has terrible exhuast size.

If you can get it to make 1000HP you can go 220mph with that tranny, hehe...

As for cost ??... That's HIGHLY dependent on you "resources" ( IE: who do you know, and how well you know them ).
