D series @ 10psi
Hey, im in the process of installing a turbo kit that I bought used....it has a full obd1 conversion thats already tuned for a D series motor w/Uberdata (a different D series than my own) and a 14b turbo, fmic, bov, etc. I was just wondering if there will be a major difference in the tuning from two different D series motors....will i just blow my motor up right away? or should i be ok.
Thanks |
Re: D series @ 10psi
depends how different they are, but you deffinatly should retune the boost table.

Re: D series @ 10psi
Im not really sure how different the maps are, but I do know that its tuned fairly convervatively on the top end as to not pass the 10psi....only reason i ask is cause i have no experience at all with uberdata and the only local tuner would want ~500 to tune it :-\ Would I be better off just detuning it and running a baseline tune?

Re: D series @ 10psi
someone else's tuned map will be better than a basemap. where are you from? maybe someone locally can help you out

Re: D series @ 10psi
You're going to have to hook up a wideband to know for sure. It's hard to speculate with any accuracy. Where do you live? I'm sure someone around you has a wb you could use to check it with.

Re: D series @ 10psi
if someones gonna charge you 500 to tune might as well buy your own wb/chip burner/cheap laptop

Re: D series @ 10psi
what are the motors which the turbo kit was from and yours?
|
Re: D series @ 10psi
the kit was originally tuned for a d15b2, but the guy before me ran it on a d16a6, i also have a d16a6...I live in the vancouver area btw

Re: D series @ 10psi
well a 1.5 would run a lot more rich compared to an a6 on the same tune . my opinion is that you should have a wideband ALWAYS esspecially on stock block hondas becuse it only takes one time to blow ur engine. i would even try to run more like 6 psi for a minute if you can, at least untill u have a wideband.

Re: D series @ 10psi
Also keep in mind that a D series at ten pound, will turn you out. Espescially if you have no tire hop.
