cx manifold leak

i have a cx manifold and 14b turbo. my first adapter plate isn't the best and it leaks...one of the things i just want to fix. anyway, is there any gasket material i could use. i've tried a piece of tin. i was hoping like fiberglass.

See if you can get a thin sheet of copper you can cut a gasket out of. The tin didn't work out? I don't think I'd use Fiberglass because at those heats it might just burn off. Pluss it won't smell too pretty once it heats up.

did you try the permatex manifold gasket gel? it packaged in a tube and it's orange or red.

are you using oem gaskets???

^^ like mentioned above, just use factory gaskets. You can still buy the HF/cx manifold gaskets at the dealer, and be sure to use the turbo inlet gasket too. If not you could probably make your own out of copper sheet.

i'm using the turbo inlet gasket and it's fine. i tried the oem cx but it didn't work, thats why i tried tin. i'll give the copper a shot, then maybe try the permatex. any other suggestions

maybe the manifold flange is warped fromt oo much heat? how hard did you drive the car?

Don't Cheap out on your adaptor plate. I did the same with the same turbo.

I ended up melting an Oil line and a hole about the size of a softball in my timing belt cover.

Fix the adaptor. I ended up welding mine to my turbo and never looked back. ( Yes you can weld cast to Mild Steel) I did with a 50 yr old arc welder and no cracks in 5 months!

Re:cx manifold leak

i don't think the flange is warped. i had a feeling there wasn't enough overlap for the gasket anyway. i also don't think the leak is big enough to melt much anyway.

well, i don't really want to weld it in case it needs to come off for whatever reason......like put my dick in it.
anyway, that seemed too permanent.

Re:cx manifold leak

well the best gasket ---- i could find only goes to 700 degrees. it's some "flexible" copper gasket. i couldn't find any permatex, does that go to a higher temp? i'm pretty sure 700 degrees isn't high enough for a turbo manifold...
