custom kit for my d16y7

Ok, i'm still learning... I was thinking about purchasing a turbo kit from SSautocrome on ebay... that would include the manifold, turbo, and downpipe. I would like to use the S-AFC for fuel management... first off, is most of that OK? and second, i wanted to know where to tap the oil feed, and return lines?? Ok, and where do i go to get the piping made to incorporate a intercooler, and get it to the TB??? enlight me on anything else i need to know... i was hoping to get this job done for less then 2,000??

No one likes SS autochrome, everything they make isnt really good, they have bad success rates!

look in the turbo projects on the first page of the site, and ull get an idea about D series turbo kits!! Cheap!! U can make 4 of them for 2000!! hahha

Lesson 1; Don't buy anything from SSautoShit unless you like wasting money

i'd really like to keep my A/C and Power steering tho.... the hf, and STD manifolds won't let me.... i'm still trying to piece together a basics parts list in my head....

They make A/C compatiable log manifolds...

okay.. the exhaust manifold is broken on my car.... and i'm using this as an excuse to turbocharge my car... but, i really like to make an informed choice....

start researching.

Re:custom kit for my d16y7

Ok, so i want a log manifold that will place the turbo so i can retain my ac and power steering..... i guess i need a T3 turbo with internal or external waste gate... not sure about the downpipe.... i need to T into the oil distributer above the filter?? and tap into the oil pan for the oil return line.... and i need custom charge pipes made??? and i'd like to use the S-AFC with 440cc injectors....thats all i've figured out....

what brand manifolds and turbo's do i want to use??? in most cases am i going to have to have custom work done to attach the turbo to the manifold?? Do i just modify a EX downpipe to mate to the turbo?? Where do i have charge pipes made?? how do i tune the S-AFC to run 8psi?? I'm really trying to understand and do my research... and i'm sure you've got a few years on me..... this is what i've come up with in 4 hours... is there any site with general information that will help me put together a good kit...

that's pretty good for just 4 hours...unfortuneately you need to research for a little while longer than just 4 hours to learn all that you need to learn before you go strapping a turbo to your car.

most decent exhaust shops can make your downpipe and chargepipes, but you may not get mandrel bends. i would suggest getting mandrel bends from www.jcwhitney.com and some silicone pipe connectors from www.atpturbo.com and cutting/fabricating your own chargepipes. then take your other mandrel bends to the exhaust shop and have them use those to make your downpipe.

I witnessed first hand a nice SS autocrap failure...a guy tried to put on a turbo from these guys, the turbo was seized.--but *brand new* LOL. yep. he got owned.

Brand new and non-functioning...that seems to be SSautochrome style.

Anyway the SAFC is not what you use to choose how much boost you want to have, it's what you use to make sure your engine gets enough fuel at all RPM levels.

A better method to fuel management would be ECU chipping with uberdata or something...so you should start researching that as well.

www.rank1racing.com is where you should look for a manifold...if you e-mail the guy and ask him I'm sure he could make something for your application.

Custom charge pipes are nothing more than a bunch of mandrel bent pipes (much like the ones that compose your exhaust system) with silicone connectors or welds holding them together. An exhaust shop should be able to take care of your down pipe and charge pipes...for a price. After all - this is homemadeturbo.com so if you can do it yourself...you should.

find a saab t3 turbo and get a log manifold from bmcrace.com or shitbird in the classifieds. i know bmcs log manifold retains ac. you can go to any exhaust shop to have your down pipe made should cost more than 100 bux. charge piping is easy to do if you can weld and have access to a welder. just get some mandrel bends from ebay or jcwhitney.com. get oil lines from stealthmode in the classifieds. go to dsmtrader.com or ebbay for you dsm 450s. and afcs are everywhere. your on your way./ good luck
