CRX front crossmember question

I'm in the process of installing a T25 turbo on my stock d16a6 CRX Si and am having some trouble with the front crossmember being in the way of everything. Could I notch it out some so I could use the T25 o2 housing for my downpipe and notch it out on the other side for the charge pipe to fit on the compressor housing. The oil return is also real close, but i think i can make that work. Any help is appreciated. I'm hoping to be boosted by this weekend. Thanks

Re:CRX front crossmember question

what about denting the f*ck out of it with an air hammer which i've already been doing. I also took about 3 inches off the top part of the crossmember and bent it in.

Re:CRX front crossmember question

I have heard of several solutions....

first up is....dent the hell out of it with a hammer :-\
I dont like to ever dent anything on a cross member....as they tend to &*%& up the steering pretty easy. (had a dented rear cross that made my car pull Right pretty hard)

Next is to replace with an after market tubular Cross. These are made for racing and usually come with adjustable drag links, and sit lower to acomidate a large header.
Z10 makes them ( www.z10.com i think ) but they run 500$....and since this is HMT.com.....way too much to spend.

Here is the true HMT way, buy the exhaust flange, sell your o2 housing on Ebay for 5$ and have a turbo/exhaust shop make a custom pipe for you that clears. This is the solution that I am currently undertaking right now...

Re:CRX front crossmember question

I've been told the cross member is a tuff bitch. My friend said his saw-za didn't even scratch it, he used a blow-torch to "fix" it.

The air-hammer/chizal sounds like a good idea, but the hammering ( with a hand held framing hammer ) sounds like it could bend the entire crossmember and cause steering issues. The hammer may dent the crossmember but pull the rest with it.

I was thinking a plasma-cutter...

That thing really pisses me off too..

Re:CRX front crossmember question

Well, i think i'm gonna hack it up so i can install the turbo, then, when i save up enough money i'll buy the place racing or the jimfab front crossmember.
