Default Crossmember ?'s Is it safe?

Is it safe to cut my stock crossmember to fit my down pipe. Or what about bashing a dent in it where I need the clearence. All opinions appreciated. Thanks.

you can get away with giving it the ole ball ping massage, hammer out the area a little to squeeze it in.

best idea is to get an aftermarket cross member. bumblezc on here makes some nice ones.

Yep, you can cut out a good chunk.

I would reccomend against cutting your stock crossmember unless, like **** said, you get something else to replace it. Even a traction bar would do it. You would just have to find a way to mount your stuff on there.

You can but I have had friends do it on theres for 4-1 headers and such and it severely comprimises it's strength and alot of flex can be felt in the front end.

It's not suggested! Even though its only light sheet metal but the design keeps it strong!

If you cut it, just weld in a piece of steel to add support to the front or top portion.

Im thinking bout buying a traction bar, but for temperory purpose I might cut it. Does anyone make a traction bar with a front mount for a d series?

if your going to cut a chunk out of the stock piece just get some sheet metal and box in the hole should be fine after that but a after market setup would be the way to go.
