Crazy idea??? (vortec s.c.)

I was checking out the vortec superchargers and was wondering if anyone has ever tried to make one or can it be possible using a regular turbo and modifying it???? I know it is crazy but I thought it may be possible.

Wow, this doesn't really seem that hard. you could take a regular turbo, on the exhaust wheel you could weld a long rod that went to a pulley and mount it so that you could use the spot where your ac compressor belt would go. then you could adjust the size of the pulley so that at redline you reach your max boost. don't know how effecicent it would be but it sounds like it could work.

I already thought of this idea months ago fellas
heres my page on it... I was alittle high when I thought it up....http://www.geocities.com/calgarycivics/camo.html

I'm thinking it could work, but the problem with turbos is they spin at incredibly high speeds, so you would have to have some mad gear ratios going to make it all work, Probly need some sort of oil cooled gear box, witha 20:1 ratio atleast. ;)

It is a rather novel idea, if you think about it, it's alot easier then a turbo, you don't have to drill holes for oil, you don't have to weld up down pipes, you basicly just bolt that ---- on.

And if you could make a S/C out of a cheap turbo, you could shine that ---- up and sell them for a fortune on Ebay.

So basicly, take the exhaust side of a turbo(I'm thinking a large turbo, Semi turbos are cheap), then get some sort of gear box with roughly a 20:1 ratio.add a pulley, make some brackets to mount it to where The power steering on you D-series use to sit, then just place the stock blet on it and your done. and for cooling and lubricants, you could either T off the block, or just fill that ---- with oil(maybe run a small pump to cirulate it all inbetween the box and turbo housing)

But if you think about it, why use a ------- turbo? why not just go find some Super charger off some other car and mount it on some how, the Gearing is already there, so thats one less thing to engineer, You could either use something like a MR2 super charger, A GTP supercharger, or one of those supercharges for a Thunderbird(you can pick those up cheap) then just mount it like right on top of the engine, so what if you have to cut a hole in the hood, your super charged!!

Why don't you use the turbo for what its designed for. Its hella more efficient than a supercharger, let alone a ghetto one

Why use a Twin turbo? lol, J/k whitey, I'm just trying to think different, your right turing a turbo into a supercharger is a dumb idea.
