cracked area around wastegate flapper
 
hello everyone, my tdo5h turbo has some cracks in the aera around the wastegate flapper..can i just remove the flapper, weld them up and grind down the surface? I can't seem to find a exhaust housing for the tdo5h turbo,if anyone can tell me where i can also find a rebuild kit for this turbo.thanks

Hehe I saw that on eBay too. Too bad it wasn't the one on the right in the pic on his auction, now that one looked sexy.

haha..sorry ;D. anyways ....how about i just JB weld the cracks?.no just kidding,but JB weld is freakin strong i bet it would work.

it would probably work... for a few hours and then break off..... they have some other stuff out there... spcifically for repairing cast iron manifolds. Its like this bronze liquid ----... @ autozone its in the same isle as JB weld. try that out and let me know how it works.

Why are you so worried about the cracks? unless they are "REALLY REALLY" bad (like you can see light through them)
and are leaking externally.

this one was pretty bad, but with cracks in those spots, all its going to do is slightly lower the boost, since boost can bleed by the flapper.

And in order to weld cast, you have to get it incredibly hot, and do lots of work with it, probably not even worth all the trouble, find another housing, or slap it on
