Couple Ecotec Questions
I have a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero with the 2.2 Ecotec
Anyone ever boost one of these? Its just a toy for me so Im in no way particular. But anyway I was wondering if anyone made a turbo manifold for this l61 or if anyone has done like a remote setup with turbo flange in place of factory DP? Also will the stock injectors fuel a few pounds of boost? Will the stock tune take a few pounds of boost? How much play room (HP wise) do I have until I scatter my A/T? Plenty of room in the engine bay and Ive done a couple Forced Air Jobs just making sure Im not forgetting anything for this Ecotec job... I have a MIG/TIG, Plasma Cutter, Pipe Bender, Steel and Aluminum for days, Data-Logger, Small Garret T3/T4 57 trim turbocharger.. just need info Throw info and links at me people, if you please. -------- Alex Burns MX-66- Team Lake Bailee - 250 AA (2-Stroke) |
I would probably grab a complete Ecotec Turbo motor out of a SAAB, Cobalt SS, or the like - that would get you a suitable manifold, injectors, etc. For that matter, get the transmission, too, and you'll know you have one that can take the extra torque.

i turbod one of these engine out of an 06 cobalt lt 2.2. the stock motor enjoys 10-12 psi so no issues there. stock engine can handle ~ 300 hp before you need to build the lower. it was a very fun car and i miss it. mine was also an automatic trans and never had any issues.
you will need a tune for any amount of boost. the stock computer can not add fuel when in boost. it will just try to keep the afr at 14.7:1 which is to lean for boost. hptuners can help you or you can go with the mail order tuning company trifecta, which is what i did. |
