copper tubing?
 

anyone use copper tubing as oil feed lines instead of costly ss braided lines and weak rubber lines?

copper tubing? As in the plumbing type that you'll have to bend to fit to your turbo? I havn't heard anyone using it, but I'm not sure how well it would hold up to the engine flex, and copper will corrode over time. (ever look at an old penny? imaging your oil lines doing that. :P

As a matter of fact, I've just started using it on Project Turbo 2, and it seems to be holding up fine. All I used was two 1/8" NPT to 1/4" compression fittings, and 1/4" copper tubing.

The stuff is awesome to work with, and is easy and cheap. I am, however, keeping an eye on it because I'm scared of corossion or the copper breaking from vibration.

All in all, I would say go for it, but make sure you keep an eye on it.

Use stainless steel line, you can get it at most pluming supply houses and its cheap. It hooks up like copper with the flair or compression fittings but it lots stronger.

They sell pipe benders and a end flair tool for that stuff.You can get that stuff at home depot.It is really easy to bend weather it be copper or stainless ass long as you get that bender.I agree with Rolla you should use the stainless stuff.

I bought brake line with 1/8" NPT fittings that was 64"s long at discount auto or $5 and it needed bent around but it wasnt hard at all $5 tool at homedepot and it works awsome.

i was going to use solid brake line, but i wused out and am using rubber line. what about copper inside a rubber line?


btw, you are talking about copper line for like oil pressure gauges right?

since summit sells it for oil pressure guages and boost guages, why not feed lines?

Oil pressure guage line is too small to feed a turbo, you need at least 1/4 line, the oil pressure guage stuff is like 1/8, way to small. The copper is strong enough, it has a burst strength of 200 PSI, the stainless is over 1000 PSI.
