copper oil lines, anyone thought of this??

i took your standerd breke line for a car and it fits great in the turbo , t28,
and thin i took 1/4 copper line and ran it from the oil sending unit. is this a bad idea??
it seems that it would work and cost les than 5 dollars!
just my 2 cents hope it helps someone and save a little money

no need to send injecters to my door step :3

very bad idea, i had them hooked up for my lsvtec, worse thing i ever did, the fitting kept leaking and blowing off, it was horrible, i had to replace them 3 times before i gave up on them, just buy a oil line kit from ---------------------------, they work very well

factory oil feed lines are hardlines so i dont think you invented anything but they certainly work....

those look like regular stainless hard lines. I used brakelines for oil and coolant for my TT kit, it worked out fine

LOL that sounds like a good idea to use brake lins . ::) Everybody knows stealthmode oil fittings break if you torque them to 13 lb :1

Dude, buying 6 of them with the copper tubing could almost buy you the stainless line. Brake lines work just fine even with the heat. A local auto store told me they are pretty normal for that use.

Sorry man I put the eye roll in the wrong place . I was to say that the people saying the stealthmode fitting were bad.....brake lines should work great. they can take some heat and get plenty of fitting for them.
The lines in the pic I posted are copper though thats what the guy on ht said . I would think that a copper fitting or line wouldn't like the heat and vibration from a high reving engine and break over time though.

really fuel line would work good to.

brake fluid i would think gets just as hot as motor oil, its running through a brake caliper that takes tons of heat and brake fluid has to last alot longer then oil and is mor corrosive, so it should work the same if not better..just not as pretty or conveinent

ward 04-13-2006 01:32 PM

Re: copper oil lines, anyone thought of this??

for sure thats what i thought also
pressure builds lots of heat. and brake lines are ment for that. :y
can i get a hell ya?? :y :y :y

If you have a bender you can make them look clean. At least they don't flop around in the engine bay like regular lines and they are about 40x cheaper than braided

Copper is too expensive IMO.

I'm gonna go with brake lines on my project now it looks fine and I already have a bender probably cost me $30 total . should I still use a flex line for the drain to the pan though ?

Re: copper oil lines, anyone thought of this??

for the oil return i used a hydraulic hose form rual king. with a 21mm head and a 3/4 fitting on the end and drilled a hole in the pan and JBed the ---- outt it!
it works great.
the total of my oil line kit was less than 20 bucks!'
with the hyd. hose fitting napa made for me!!! :y
im cheap but hay thats money for somthing elese right?? :y
