Cooling the engine bay...

As many of you boosted guys know, putting turbo in your honda will make your engine bay temperatures skyrocket to kingdom "CUM".

My question to you guys is what are your suggestions in keeping the engine bay cool...?

The things I've seen done are as follows:

1) Wrap header, downpipe, etc with the heat wrap
2) DIY fast and the furious style holes on the OEM hood
3) New CF hoods with some holes already fabricated in
4) Raising the back part of the hood like an inch so more air can get through the engine bay.
5) No HOOD.

I'm just trying to find an economical way of cooling my engine bay down. I'm probably going to be wrapping the downpipe and parts to keep it a tad cooler...

Any ideas? Or what you've done?

I say wranp the mani. and get a fan with higher rpms.

If you have the money just get a nice carbon hood with an inverted scoop.

open up the "foglight" holes in the front bumper and run dryer ductiong to the hot spots.

I would go for the raising of the back hood, it's the least rice/most HMT approach to your solution.

i just removed rubber seal between hood and cars body (between windwashers nd hood) and got tiny hole. i dont know how good it helps to cool engine bay, but i think it work atleast a little. and that mod took 2 minutes =))

This is not rice, it will work very effective if done rightand will not be noticable. It is one of many "old shcool" DYI mods.

it would be a good idea for guys running ac to run a dryer duct pipe to their ac compressor if their downpipe is realy close to it. ;D

I agree, just washer it to raise it up between the brackets and the hood... simple yet effective. Cutting holes in the oem hood looks gay... most scoops tend to also.

I concider my car a sleeper ( the hood will be painted to match ) and I don't think my vents are "gay".

I also have part of the rear water seal removed from the engine bay ( I left a little around map sensors ).

Re:Cooling the engine bay...

when i run at the track i usually just take the hood off. I was planning on using my spare hood and cutting a large vent hole in the center above the turbo manifold.

also, using a 92-95 half sized radiator helps get air directly around the turbo which should cool underhood temperatures a lot.

That was the most ghetto fab setup I've ever seen! I thought my setup was bad! Good lord where in the hell did you get that BOV from? Mad props on the kit and the fast solution for installing the fuel pump and not dropping the tank! ;D

Its an adjustable Volvo BOV, works GREAT, and comes with a flange to weld sepratly.

Until recently I had a pusher fan on the turbo side of the radiator and the factory puller fan on the other side.

You have to put the whole url in the [url] tag manually. If you let the board's internal parser do it, it stops at the ? in the URL.

Well at least the interior of the car looks presentable.
