coolant lines setup

I am turboing my 1999 Civic Ex..and following some of the setup of the 2000 ex done on here, such as the coolant lines. If someone could post what I would need for a water line setup such as the one on here ( https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_projects/civic_ex/ ) that would be great. Im runnin a gt28r turbo, similiar to the t25 used.

I would just leave the coolant lines off. :-\ I have never ran coolant lines to a turbo.

i got the same question. im replacing my borrowed t3 with a 14b soon. and for me (a noob) coolant lines are just too complicated.now, can i just run it with oil? if yes, do i need to block off the coolant lines? or can i just leave them open? thanks

theres 2 lines that come out of the firewall. http://thenew.gamesbbs.com/~turbosi/...EACV_2_640.JPG
one of them goes to the block. the other goes to the throddle body. you can use either one to feed the turbo and then return the line to thier respectice place ( tb or block ). very simple. id probobly use 5/8 hose.
hooking these lines up will eliminate the need for a turbo timer, and make your turbo last longer.

Re: coolant lines setup

Why spend like $1,000 on a GT28RS and then roast the bearings by not running coolant lines?

I've heard of people disconnecting the coolant lines to the throttle body and running them to the turbo. Check out www.atpturbo.com I think they did it on an Integra. Under vehicle specific or dyno's or somethin I think.

hmm...thanks for the help, I found the EAVC line, from the tb to the block, which would act as the feed line, but I cant figure out what would be the return line, in the pic above I couldnt find it on my (99 civic ex), i think the pic was off a (90 crx si). so help please

Why not use the FITV lines? I have that disconnected on mine anyway.

Re: coolant lines setup

you could also T-off a coolant line. That's what I've always done.

Its better for the life of the turbo and you wont need a turbo timer if you run coolant lines

Eh, any help on the location, like I said I think the pic in that car is the 90 crx si, so maybe if you could point me in the direction of the lines to take on meh 99 civic ex, like what size the lines are im looking for etc, cause theres two hoses coming out of the firewall, but they are fatty...ive found the one 3/8 line coming from the tb, which acts as the in, but cant find the out...help

Re: coolant lines setup

find out were the line goes. if it goes to the t-body disconnect it.
connect it to one of the cooling ports on your turbo.
the other cooling port on your turbo gets routed back to your t-body, its your return.
i have a 94 del sol and can see them if i look behind my intake looking down in the firewall. 2 lines going out.
if i were sitting in my car it whould sit right in front of where my shifter or radio is. use any one of those lines.
you dont have to use the one to the t-body, you can use the other that goes to the block. just make sure you make your coolantant return there.

heres the stock setup
-----------cooling line to t-body or block-----------------------------------t-body or block
heres the turbo inline
-----------cooling line to t-body or block------------turbo---------------t-body or block
if you still cant find the lines. just a fatty coolant line and put a 2 port copper tee in it. use pex or polly adapters in the ports. it should work fine
thats the best that i could describe. good luck

Re: coolant lines setup

It's way too easy to do for you to ignore it. Hopefully all this good info helps you out.

I would reccomend you look into upgrading your cooling system if you have any kind of overheating problems because adding a turbo to the cooling system of an N/A vehicle...that can be rough. Keep an eye on that gauge.
