Compressed air anti-lag Turbo Spool...
 

Ok ive seen this done but still have a few q's...

Ok my system involves a tank win which the air is compressed in via a compressor. This air is fed thru a line to the manifold which has a air squirter to it to send air flying thru it to produce the turbo spooling while idling.

How big of line should I use and how would I go about controlling the air on/off ? any cheap solenoids out there that would work?

And how is that setup?
on the intake or exhaust side??

if on intake side....how is the computer going to adjust to the unmetered air?

if on the exhaust side, what about the 02 sensor, isnt the air going to screw up the mixture.??

it'll only blow air to spool the turbo for a second or something. its not like its going to be on all the time. i doubt it would mess up the mixture with 2 seconds of air flying through.

you ever had a vaccum leak on acar. Any unmetered air will mess with things big time. Think about it this way...if you're putting more air in than is metered...you'll run lean...then kaboom...why not run a real small shot of nitrous to help spool up the turbo...like a 50hp shot.

err a 50hp shot of NOS will cause more problems than one second of compressed air into the hot side of the turbo. just spray it in past the sensor.

ok you shoot it striaght down your exhaust side. You so this seconds before you race right after staging. This will create boost while idling. It goes for a few seconds then when you drop clutch it cuts out. or you manually sht it off. It will not screw up your meatering I dont see how it could

ok well where i have seen this doe was on a 12 sec daily driven homemade turbo setup. He put a air injector right where the stock O2 sensor goes in the HF manifold so it shoots it straight downb. the O2 sensor was rerouted to the downpipe.

first off...a 50 shot of nitrous won't hurt anything...it's when its not done correctly that you'll have problems...second...the air injected in the compressor side is what I was talking about affecting the mixture...I don't see a problem doing it on the exhaust side. Hell, if anyone can find a link to site that explains it in a little more detail, I'm game for doing it on my car.

just buy a supercharger if yer worried about low end boost.

I had thought about this at one time, myself. Couple problems. Your blow off valve will be open, so you'll gain turbine speed, but not boost, it will go out your blow off valve. Could still be beneficial. Also, if exhaust side manifold pressure is high enough to start a spool up, it may force exhaust gas back into the combustion chamber, like a stuck open EGR valve, and the engine would die from a lean mixture due to the exhaust fume contamination. It is also very possible that if you created boost without much cfm flow, your turbo would cross the surge threshold, and rattle itself around against the bearings. This is really hard on turbos.
Want to know how the pros do it? They floor their engine at the line against a two stage MSD rev limiter and side step the clutch. You better have a full race prepped tranny for this method, or it's bye bye transmission main shaft. But it will give you boost at the starting line.
