Colder Spark Plugs

I have a 91 crx si and i need to know which colder spark plugs should i get? I called around to pep boys and autozone and they dont carry colder ones just the OE's I would think that NGK's would be good. The OE part # is BCPR6e-11. I know the "6" is the temp right? So i need a 7?? And if so, where can i get them cuz at local autozone's and ---- dont carry em?? T3 turbo, stock D16a6 with decent fuel mang, intercooled and in desert climate....if that matters

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

go to advance aurto parts and order these NGK's part numer 3333. they are for a 1990 Saab 9000 turbo hard driving. u can look them up on the ngk web site. they are one colder than factory honda.

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

Get some NGK's that are 1 or 2 colder. I think im running NGK heat range 7 on mine.

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

I thought the number went lower for colder. ??? Autopart stores suck for things like that. They look at you stupid because they don't normaly deal with that sort of thing. If you're not looking for an OEM replacement or a 6ft. aluminum wing they don't know what to tell you.

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

whatever you buy, buy NGK dont trust any of those stupid denso firms or whatever that gives you +20HP just by changing into there spark plugs

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

Well, if your OEM part number is BCPR6e-11 you should look for a BCPR4e-11.

Are you sure? Don't the numbers go the other way to go colder? I've always heard you should go from 6 to 7.

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

from that website

"As you can see, our heat rating number goes up as speed, load and temperature go up. In other words, higher numbers are colder plugs. A colder plug simply has a better ability to cool itself."

So I guess you were right all the time. BCPR7e-11, will be a colder plug. Now when where and how much colder you need it, i'm not sure, I'll keep checking

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

I found this, it shows a few different ngk's BCPR7 plugs

http://www.southernms.com/online/pdfs/electrical.pdf

and here they have the bcpr7e spark plugs from $2.00 each

http://www.clubplug.net/retail_complete_ngk.html

I'm still looking at how and were to find them locally. I know I bought a set of these from a local racing shop about 2 years ago.

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

well, if that is the right part #, take it to any auto parts store, and if they don't have em in stock, they can prolly get them overnight

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

Where the hell did all these HMT's members get their colder plugs and which ones did they use.....TELL ME!!!! I'm just looking for one step colder plug for my crx si that are perferably NGK but will use anything as long as they work just as good and do the trick... HELP

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

Just go to an universal parts store, I'm sure they've got what you need.

Anyway, an easy way to check if you really get colder plugs is to measure the dept of the hole around the center of the plug. If it is a colder plug there will be more metal around the core (to conduct heat away) and the hole will be less deep.

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

i guess you just have to get the 40 dollar denso's off of egay ;)

Re:Colder Spark Plugs

I guess I was wrong. ??? I always thought it was lower to go colder. Good thing I never used colder plugs(or tried to anyways). I can't believe the parts store can't order them for you. Checker can order anything you need and have it within a day or two out here. I think they are just being cunts. Go somewhere else. >:(

Hey guys, this information is in the FAQ. If I had known that I would have locked this thread a long time before I talked out of my ass. :P :-[
