Default clutch slipping

Hi folks,

Went to the track with my 90 Civic last night and had a terrible time. I can't understand it really. After a hard launch at 8psi I shifted hard into second and it was really haulin ***. I grabbed third and all I got was clutch slip!!!. I wouldn't mind but that clutch was the absolute best that I could buy for $50. It was rebuilt and everthing!!. Seriously though, I think I need a stronger clutch now so I can start breaking other parts of the car. Does anyone have actual experience with preformance clutches? What's the best value? I'm only looking for around 200hp on this car so it won't have to be the ultimate race clutch but I might want more power later. What do you guys think?

while on the clutch slipping topic, i just put a new tranny and clutch in but didnt resurface the flywheel first. could this be the problem with my clutch slipping now, ive only had it in for like 5 months.

OEM clutch? is your car turbo'd or anything?

The flywheel should be resurfaced.

well what ever you do dont get that dual friction centerforce if your turbo. it sucks ****!!!!!!!! i ran a 17 with that ----. no second gear at all. all slip in 2nd and up. im gonna try a combo of the centerforce disc and the act pressure plate and see what happens.

ya its an oem clutch. so if i resurface the flywheel now, will it save my clutch from slipping, it only slips when i try to take off fast and hard

The clutch is a cheap rebuilt so I wasn't expecting much anyway but the best I could do was a 16.01 with the boost set at half the max of 8psi. The flywheel was resurfaced too but I guess the stock clutches are weak.
