Clocking a T3
I ahve a Garrett T3 that needs clocked(mid section oil points too far forward towrds the front of the car.) I need to know how to clock it correctly. I have the bolts out on the exhaust side but two of them ebcause the mid section is in the way, wasnt sure if a rubber mallet would be necessary or anything. Also there are 4 bolts on the mid section bolted to the compresssor side, these help either?

Re:Clocking a T3
yes, you may need to loosen both the compressor housing and exhaust housings to rotate the center section and housings where you need them. Spray those bolts down good with some PB blster or WD40 before you try to loosen them. they snap easilly, and you don't need that.
once you have all your bolts loose, you may need to tap the housings to get them to move. Then when you have everything where you need it, just tighten it all beck up. |
Re:Clocking a T3
Two of the bolts in the Exhaust housing wont comeout cause the oil feed and return are in the way.

Re:Clocking a T3
You only need to loosen them so the metal plates aren't pressing against it. Soak the housing in PBBlaster for about 10 mins and put the hot side of it in a vise. Give the cold side a few whacks with a mallet outwards. Don't try to get it to turn, you want to pop it off. When it breaks loose, it usually just barely comes off and the plate will prevent it from comming all the way off anyway. At that point, you can turn it enough to get to the 2 bolts.
