Cleaning up a turbo.
So, I gave my turbo to a friends uncle who is an redired machine shop welder took my turbo to weld the flapper shut for me. So, when I get it back it is fulthy am I am afraid some metal from the shop etc might have gotten inside the turbo cause doesnt look like he covered the inlets anywheres.
Is there anyway I could flush it out with oil? it is a ct-26. |
Re: Cleaning up a turbo.
you can try washing it out with either mineral spirits or penetrating oil if youre concerned

Re: Cleaning up a turbo.
do you mean inside the housings, or inside the cartridge? housings= take apart, wash out.
for inside the cartridge, i used a "mini funnel" and put some air tool lubrication oil through it. i used a squeez bottle that would put some pressure through it. surprisingly the turbo had coke (couldnt tell). thats when i bought a new turbo just in case |
Re: Cleaning up a turbo.
----, Just get a can of brake clean and use it up on the thing. Its not gonna hurt anything.

Re: Cleaning up a turbo.
Before you start the thing up you could leave the drain hose disconnected, crank the engine over a few times to flush any crap out instead of going into you oil pan.
If your really concerned just remove the housings and clean 'em out too. |
