"chrysler T3" is bigger than .42
 
Hey i just wanted everybody to know... i had a T3 .42/.48 from a Saab.. i also had a "chrysler T3".. well, the saab t3 had bad seals or something so i took both of them apart to see if the center housings were interchangeable.. well what i found out when i took them apart is the chrysler T3 had a bigger compressor wheel than the Saab T3 .42/.48.

Just a little heads up to you guys that the chrysler T3 will most likely make more power... and everybody said they were crap :P

Its not that they are crap.It just that people,including myself dont like then couse of the gay ass flange they have.

The Saab T3's come with many different trim levels. You're going to need to be more specific as the the year and model both turbo's came from (or the serial on the turbo) to make your generalities be worth any real consideration.

the flange is ass.
i have 4 new holes drilled in it to mount up to a t3 mani. it's ghetto but no leaks, but still some careful machining to get it done.
not worth a lot of peoples time.

which "chrysler t3" are you referring to? they used several different ones.

Just a little heads up to you guys that the chrysler T3 will most likely make more power... and everybody said they were crap

what the hell is this? everybody knows what the hell the chrysler T3 is.

All im stating is that it has a bigger compressor wheel than a .42/.48 T3. Just as a .60/.48 T3 makes more power than a .42/.48, A BIGGER COMPRESSOR WHEEL IS A GOOD THING.

I thought maybe some people would like to know that, but i guess not.

A .42/.48 A/R T3 can have many different compressor wheel trims. Off the top of my head, I know the Saabs come in 40, 45 and 50 and I'm sure there are 1 or 2 more. So you really need to know which trim the Saab turbo was that you're comparing to. Get it now?

speaking of Chrysler turbo's. i just stole this t3 of my friends brothers car hahahahahahaha

its off a LeBaron :D i got the exhaust flange for it too. so its real easy to make a downpipe. shaft play isnt to bad either

i have one of those Saab T3's also, how is it compared to a DSM T25? because the only reason i sold my last kit was to get a bigger turbo but i bought a small one, it's alright though because i got a .60 at my cousins waiting for me ;D

everyone knows they have garrett and mitsu turbos.
nobody can read your mind on which exact one you are referring to.
same goes for the saab 42/48. a/r doesn't refer to the compressor wheel like purecrx stated. i have had several saab turbos with the same a/r and different compressor wheels.

we all love data on turbos. but you have to present in a way to make it useful information. pics are a good thing. specs too.
at least you tried. that's what makes this site great. many people do not.

You guys are hilarious, even if the thread is garbage, hes only trying to help, stop flaming, i did get a laugh out of the way you guys attack him, but none the less, not everyone around here is used to friendly criticisms.

I realize that a turbo with the same size compressor housing and exhaust housing can have a different size compressor wheel, but i didnt realize that there were so many different trims on the same model of car. all of the turbos i've pulled off of 2.2L dodges have been identical. I assumed they were all the same.

just to clarify for everyone, a turbo with a .42 ar and another turbo with a .42 ar have the same ar. they may have different trim sizes, but trim size is not a function of ar, and ar is not a function of trim size, they are independent variables. I hope that made you all more confused, haha.

The later chrysler turbo's definatly make more power at the same PSI if they are Garrett. I have posted this before but this might help...
