chinese 16g with/out oil restrictor?

So I'm in the process of installing my new chinese 16G and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to run an oil restrictor. My focus usually runs around 80 psi on startup and after running it for a while, it stays around the 40-60 psi range while driving and 20-30 psi when idleing. What do you guys think?

YES i would def run the restrictor. Very few turbos have restrictors built into them, you def need to decrease the volume going into it.

It depends where you are pulling the oil line from, if the source is the head then pressure is generally lower at the head than at the oil filter housing....see if you can measure the pressure where you are going to pull it from. If you can't then i would use a restrictor if pulling from a location near the pump or the filter housing, if pulling from the head a restrictor may not be necessary on a journal bearing turbo as they generally are not as picky about pressure as a ball bearing cartridge can be.

I'm getting the oil from the head. I have a T and one end is my oil psi gauge and the other is the feed line goin to the turbo. The readings I got from the gauge are in my original post.

Once you have a good drain line that is free flowing i dont see it being a problem, those are not extremely high pressures when cruising etc. if you ever upgrade to a ball bearing center chra then definitely utilize a restrictor.

take a look at this

Cool. It's really good to hear that there are people out there that ran these chink turbos without problems.

i made just under 300 whp with mine on a d16z6, ended up upgrading to a bastard 20g and sold the ching chang big 16g to a guy with a eclipse and far as i know he is still running it as well.

It's supposed to be water cooled too, so I'd think the more oil you can get through it (to a point); the better. I've seen guys run them on DSM's right from the filter housing which is pretty high oil pressure and they were fine. One of the few Chinese turbos that hold up for a little while, but I'll take genuine MHI anyday if I had to run a Mitsu turbo.
