checking turbo for leaky seals

Alright, I did a visual check of the turbo IHI RHB5Mazda and found no traces of oil leakage. Would it be a good idea to attach the turbo to my engine without routing the charge pipes with just the oil lines plumbed and let it run for a bit to see if any leaks are present or is there a better way to do this. Thanks much....

Re:checking turbo for leaky seals

you could just plug the oil outlet and pump oil in it at about 15-20psi which is what the cars' oil pressure will be reduced to when you feed the turbo oil w/-4an line. if it leaks, then the seals are gone. another way is to install it like you said, but don't drive the car with it on cause you'll over spin the turbine (cause the charge pipes aren't gonna be on) just rev the engine at 5k rpms for a good 30-60 seconds, that's enough to get the oil pressure upto peak level. do it a few times and then check for leaks.
