Check my math please?
Hey guys new to the forum. I would just like to say your newb section is awesome and is very informative. Dont kill me if I say something stupid I'm trying to absorb as much as the info as I can. So far I have read the Newb sticky and the "selecting your turbo" sticky. I am trying to find the right turbo for my custom build.....dont laugh. Its a 1977 Postal Jeep with a swapped in a fuel injected 242 4.0 engine. The postal jeep will not be used for offroad use. It will be street rat rod only (my plans are chopping the top and C-notching the front and back).
I am wanting to turbo it just for the sheer unique factor. I do not want to try and make this something that would go race, or extreme amount of boost. I am trying to find a suitable turbo for the engine. After reading the "selecting your turbo" sticky" I have come up with the following numbers for running 7lbs. CFM with 85% efficiency: 315 Pressure ratio: 1.47:1 Temp rise: 62.3 Actual Outlet temp: 164.28 Density ratio: 1.26 CFM inlet air flow: 396.9 lbs/min: 27.38 With that info It looks like I would be looking to find a "T3 60 trim" or a "IHI VF 27" Am I reading this correctly? I'm kinda confused because it says 422 cfm is max for a 2 liter. But my engine is a 4.0 liter. Am I looking at it wrong or did I add things up wrong? Thanks for helping me out in advance and I love the site! :) |
So what turbo did you go with? I'm doing a 98 xj. I did .50 cold and hot was .63 60 trim.
