Cheapest way to make IC piping?

Which would you guys do, not looking to spend more than $40 total. Yeah im cheappppp

Flexible exhaust piping, black pvc piping oorrr a bunch of radiator hoses??

2BarRacing 06-14-2009 09:31 PM

flex pipe works but out of what you listed rad hoses work the best. go to the jy on 1/2 off day and look for factory volvo turbo cars they have good hoses to work with

i thought about that. but man junkyards around here are retards. wanting like $80+ for turbos, $125 for a damn civic hood. eh ever seen pics of flexpiping??

2BarRacing 06-14-2009 09:38 PM

yeah and it does work i used a short peice when i didnt have a 90 one time but pvc will blow apart when it gets hot. i have put 20+ psi through a bunch of factory dsm hoses and rad hoses. i make all my good couplers out of truck radiator hose its tough stuff been tested time and time again at 25+ psi and over 500hp

turbof22a 06-15-2009 02:06 PM

goto autozone and get a flexible universal rad hose

jared529 06-15-2009 04:31 PM

EBAY?

jdmdean 06-15-2009 06:02 PM

i bought 10ft of pvc piping for $3.44 lol

i've already cut it up and mocked it up, gonna use 2" radiator hoses to connect them. woot, grand total of $8 spent for ic piping and "couplers" ;D
gonnna use radiator flex hose for the turbo to lower ic piping, dont wanna risk pissing off the pvc with heat

im seriously cheap..

My favorite way is exhaust pipe and pie cuts. ---- you can get a HF wire feed and the pipe for a lil more then one of those kits. Then you can do your exhaust aswell.

i was gonna do that but that ---- is like $7 for 1 1/2 ft at autozone.

rExin_you_out 06-15-2009 10:34 PM

no you gota hit up a small buisness type exhaust shop. you can even get them to put some rough bends in it cheap, and you get like a 10 foot section.

jdmdean 06-17-2009 03:51 PM

got some 1 1/2 90" degree bends, connected/mocked it up. then wrapped the ---- outta it with ducktape lol, hopefully this holds 8psi. ill post pics tommorow

2BarRacing 06-17-2009 03:56 PM

i have done that but FC welds unless you grind weld grind weld grind weld well you get the idea you can never get all the holes out of them. btw grind a grove in the pvc when you put it together so the clamps can grab something

rExin_you_out 06-17-2009 04:22 PM

i rough weld em together then jb the ---- out of them. just like my exhaust hah. works awesome.

MAKE SURE you get jb WELD not jb KIWK. theres a big difference.

2BarRacing 06-17-2009 05:19 PM

wow now thats HMT

jy wont charge that much much for misc piping, i got all of my cold side piping for 30bucks.. just when they ask where its from say its off a sunfire lol

2BarRacing 06-17-2009 10:38 PM

haha it should hold dont u think. the fit was already snug as hell plus ducktape out the ass on the connections. we'll see in a few weeks. stupid ebay seller cant ship my bov/compressor flanges out til monday cause he's "on vacation" ------- idiot

rExin_you_out 06-18-2009 03:53 PM

they are supposed to warn you on the auction that they are goin on vacation, if not you can get out of payin for it and order it elsewhere.

2BarRacing 06-18-2009 11:15 PM

hmm or when they ---- up and you order a 2.75" kit and they send you a 2.5" kit. thats how i got my one 2.5" kit for free

rExin_you_out 06-19-2009 06:05 AM

heh they fucked up my turbo order once, sent me a .60/.63 instead of a .50/.63

and get this, when i told them the continually denied even selling a .60 turbo and didnt believe me, i even sent them a pic of the .60 stamped on the compressor. cant complain to much as it was better heh.

i was tryin to get em to send me a whole new one without "having to take my car off the road for there mistake." and send it back. but it didnt work heh

black318i 06-22-2009 12:34 AM

I read a thread where a guy used either ABS or PVC and it started to deform due to heat.

pojet14 06-22-2009 10:00 AM

home deopo. cheap

2BarRacing 06-22-2009 04:19 PM

yes the plastic will deform due to the heat but you can cure that by putting 2 screws in your couplers after the clamps. cant blow off a coupler that is screwd to the pipe

rExin_you_out 06-22-2009 05:27 PM

brilliant lmao. here i am with pliers trying to feather the pipes out or grinders trying to make a groove, to welder welding a bead. and i coulda just put a screw in it? doh

2BarRacing 06-22-2009 05:30 PM

its super ghetto but its the only way we could get the charge pipe on my buddies DSM to stay together above 30psi of boost

rExin_you_out 06-22-2009 05:42 PM

my ---- was blowing left and right at 12 pounds heh. id get one good pull in second and at like 6k POP. i think it was a mix of home depot couplers, cut up aluminum pipe and the movement from the engine (was always the hot side).

Took a grinder the ground like a reverese bead into it and it worked decent.

2BarRacing 06-22-2009 07:52 PM

but now we know screw that ---- together

rExin_you_out 06-22-2009 09:14 PM

did you coat the screw in rtv or anything?

2BarRacing 06-23-2009 07:42 PM

no the amount of boost leak it will have is very very minimal.
