i was lookin on ebay, would a mechnical water temp gauge mean you have to run a coolant line into the car to the gauge?

No it means you have to install the sensor into the head and then run the big signal line from it to the gauge in the car. With a electric you can just run a couple wires and tap off the stock sensor. There is no coolant coming in the car.

I know I had some uber cheap gauges from JC Whitney and they sucked a whole lot.
The one stopped working and the mechanical oil gauge leaked oil inside the car all the time...
On top of that I think the water temp gauge was off alot b/c of the strange readings it would give me all the time.
I'd stick with at least a brand you've heard of for a few bucks more b/c if they aren't telling you actually whats up with your motor, whats the point?
I know Sun-pro is a brands thats been around for a long time so they might be another cheap option for you.
