Take the air filter box out and run the filter to open air, or pull the filter too and put on a K&N on your factory intake pipe.

If you are into performance, save money and do a Homemade Turbo, the car will be faster for the same amount of cash it will take to get header, intake and other little upgrades.

You could pretty much do a HMT kit for under 1000 if you don't go to crazy and use junkyard parts. Now if you want a show custom kit, plan to spend more.

Welcome to HMT

advance the timing, remove the muffler :P, take out the spare, jack, tools, back seat, etc.

and you'll still have a 16 second car, then you blow a tire and you are fucked. I had a 97 ex, spent about 2,000 in stupid N/A parts, and the car was still too slow.

Don't get me wrong all of those things will help, but it won't be a big performance change.

You can rig a cheap button as a vtec controller, or more like press the button when you want vtec, but that can also bring problems.

Take a plastic cup and cut off the bottom. Take your lower airbox and cut some holes in it. Preferably facing the front of the car or sources of cool air. Now cut both air box joining holes to fit the cup, and glue/epoxy/silicon that bitch in place. Then drop in a K&N. I've heard on ITRs this flows better than most intakes. If you're willing to you can port the head. You could mill the head (compression is a budget racers friend). Get a Z6 exhaust manifold, and chop out the inner tube. Or you could make your own header. There's tons of ---- you can do for little to no money.
