Default changed my intake

think it'll breathe better??
the small filter used to be mounted directly to the compressor. it seems to be slightly leaner (i guess the small one was restrictive), but now i get a whistle at higher rpms...don't know if it's the compressor whistling or the air rushing through the flexible intake pipe.

ya i m not a big fan of filters inside of the engine bay. use screen door mesh or like EJ said, just use some panty hose. hell u have an intercooler for a reason, to catch debrie.

funny thing is that i netted 186whp/175wtq with that dinky filter. can't wait to get it on a dyno and retune.

all those crinkles in the intake hose suck for air flow and velocity.

The whisles probably come from the tube.

Ya how did the dinky filter work? I had one slightly bigger and it stalled my turbo at 4000 rpm killing all my boosting fun!

I think that it is those ribs on the pipe.

This is a pretty good topic. I too have a filter slapped onto my T3/t4 compressor housing because it fit pretty good there, but I've been wondering if it is benificial to move the filter away from the engine bay heat and if it will restrict the air flow at all doe to having a long pipe with the filter attached. I wasn't really too conserned with moving the filter away because i've seen some pretty impressive dyno numbers come off of some setups running a filter directly on the compressor housing as well.
