Default To Change the Turbine Housing?

I have had my Mazda MX6 2.5L V6 turbo for some 3 years now. Its been through a few engines, numerous transmissions and 3 different turbo setups.

Currently it is as follows:

2.5L v6 10:1 compression
42lb green tops in a custom top feed rail
60-1 .70 / stage3 .63 T3 Garret turbo (full-race)
SSAC headers, to Y pipe with 2.5in DP attached to a QTP Cutout
MSnS modded with full DIS ignition control
Intercooled
Tial 38mm WG
OLD SCHOOL Apexi AVCr

That is the basics of my boost setup.

Now my question, I like the power and top end of the 60-1 currently on the car, but the spool is way to late for a street car IMO. This current engine revs to 7000rpm on the nose. The engine I'm building will rev to 7800.

My previous turbo was a 57trim T04e / Stage 3 .48 and before that was an SVO turbo. I have been considering switching to the .48AR Stage3 turbine housing since (to my knowledge) the turbine wheel size is actually the same between the .63 and .48. If I can pick up say another 500-1000rpm in spool without murdering the topend I'll be calling Majestic turbo Monday. The ultimate goal for this turbo will be in the 400-500whp range.

So, for those of you running a simillar sized turbo/engine what are your feelings on this? Should I switch the turbine housing or switch turbos?

I'm very familure with tuning, especially the KL engine. I'm not a professional, but I can hold my own. I have tried pulling out lots of timing and going to rich in spool to try to combat the issue, but the engine doesn't take kindly to it, power goes down and is overall slower once into full boost. I spent a good hour on the dyno just toying with spool alone. The opposite actually helped. Currently I run around 30 degrees of advance or so (without any detonation/pre ig). Any advice would be awesome.

Here are some pics of my last setup and dyno plot:

Yes, sure, the .48 a/r turbine will make a great improvement on your spool up.
i can do that turbine swap with you if you want.

You would do a straight trade for the turbines? DEAL! Its a stage 3 ford 5 bolt turbine housing. Obviously I would need a 5bolt (ford pattern) .48 in return.

Any comments on affects of top end power?

Blaast...PM me your info on how u want to do this.

I also have a BRAND NEW 4 bolt discharge stage3 .63 T3 Turbine (came with the above turbo from Full-Race) that I never used. I'd trade that for the ford style 5bolt as well.

you can't ask this question. common.
60-1 is just a compressor wheel. you are free to put any turbine side on it to make it a super quick, or super slow spooler.

nobody needs a ball bearing turbo. I have a 600 hp gt35R BB and let me tell you I can make a 60-1 journal bearing spool much quicker and support the same power, for a fraction of the price and on top of that, it will be rebuildable.
needless to say, i am removing that gt35R from my h22 shortly and will replace it with a pair of t3-t4 s trim, it will certainly spool up WAY qucker, support even more power and i'll have left over money.
