CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
Has any one tried the new cartridge from cca? it looks like a good deal, but seems to cheap for what you get.
----------- From their site: Garrett T3 Turbo Rebuild Cartridge Cartridge contains new compression and turbine wheels, bearings, seals and is microbalanced. Installation is simple - remove the 12 bolts holding your two housings together, remove your old cartridge and reassemble with the new cartridge. **THIS IS FOR THE REBUILD CARTRIDGE ONLY - TURBO HOUSING IS NOT INCLUDED - Fits Garrett T3 Turbocharger Housing $175 ------------- you basically have a brand new turbo provided you have a core to use for both housings. It doesnt seem too hard to do. oh its in the catalog section on the speedpartrus.com site |

Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
the reason it sounded cheap is that Im not used to people selling quality products at a price like that. Especially since its even balanced as well.
|
Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
maybe i should look into getting one of those.

Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
I've never heard of anyone using one, but if Anthony sells it, you can trust its what he says. ;)

Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
There was a thread a while ago that I can't find now where some dude bought one and it blew oil. Not sure what happened after or if it was the dude's fault(too much oil pressure, kinked return). I'm pretty sure he would have got a refund though if it was faulty.

Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
that brings up a good point...
Is there such a thing as too much oil pressure to the turbo? I think it was the stealthmode site that sells a valve to adjust the pressure, but how would you know what the pressure is at, or should be at for any given turbo setup? |
Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
If I can quote Corky on this one ;D 5psi to 60psi is your optimum oil pressure range. You check that by having a gauge. ;)

Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
agreed anthony is a stand up guy

Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
Kinda vague isn't it? Is there any specs on this that you are aware of? The gauge I can do, but I'm trying not to make my car look like a cockpit inside.
Im going to look into a single autometer electric gauge, with 2 sending units and some kind of switch between the two, since the pressure after the valve would differ from the engines operating oil pressure. Does this sound like a good idea? or am I talking out my ass? Obviously a larger oil line would also reduce the pressure, but increase the volume getting to the turbo right? Like the opposite of putting your thumb over the end of a garden hose, pressure gets higher but less water comes out. Can you see anything I might have missed when figuring this out? |
Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
Here's an hmt secret (just don't tell anyone). Most people use the restrictor valve to restrict oil to the turbo when the seals are going to ----. A.K.A. making a beat turbo work without smoking.
Hook up your kit, and then talk to me if you see smoke. ;) |
Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
man, thats one slick way to do things. Granted not the best way to extend the turbo life, but at least its not a smoke bomb.
Cool idea.... |
Re:CCA T3 rebuild cartridges
If its bound to blow, run it till theres nothing left.

Cool idea.... if the seals are already leaking, and the turbo's ---- anyways, then yeah, it actually is extending the life of the turbo, or else it would be sitting on a shelf b/c it smokes ;D |
