Re:catch can
hahaha. jdm ---- on a j-bod...hehe. ya know there is a thing called a Toyota Cavalier right? right hand drive cavy with a few diff appearance things sold only in japan. GM and Toyota went into a small partnership to make them.
that catch can looks real nice though...who makes that one? and i cant find the damn summit ones.. :-\ |
Re:catch can
Summit sells them.. just need to look harder.
that can is made by Cusco, Jdm Bling Bling.. or theoldone has a nice setup for hondas/acuras http://www.theoldone.com/components/...eather-Kit.jpg guess it could work on any engine really.. I'd just make my own personally ;) |
Re:catch can
Is there any photos or article I can look to install one of these catch can? Please dont tell me to search my comp takes forever just to load a page. Thanks guys.

Re:catch can
I don't understand why anybody would run a catch can, its pointless. You should run your breather to a crankcase evacuation kit that is actually functional becuase it relieves the pressure on your rings, stops blowby and is even cheaper than a catch can (under $50). If your car blows smoke, this will help if not stop it

Re:catch can
i have a breather filter but oil starts to build up on the filter. its better to rought it back into the intake so it "sucks" the pressure (blowby) out of the crank case. and i dont need that oil and ---- goin into my turbo and inercooler, so im gunna use a catchcan...thats why, lol so no, they aren't pointless. they're great. i think anyone running boost should have this setup. hell even NA guys should if you ask me. still suction (vaccume) on NA motors, jsut not as much as the turbo would suck.

Re:catch can
Do you know what an evac kit does? Its kinda like a one way valve you weld on your downpipe. You than run a hose from your valve cover to the valve on the exhaust. The vaccum caused by the exhaust helps to pull all the presssure out of the crankcase and actually prevents blowby, the oil in your charge pipes and all that other ----.
a catch can only holds the sludge instead of fixing the problem thats causing the sludge. I just think that its better to solve the problem with something that will actually free up power and help your motor run more efficiently instead of a can that catches oil. |

Re:catch can
Both these kits come with two of everything for v6/8's with two cylinder heads I assume. Could one be used for the head and the other for the bottom half?
|
Re:catch can
Yeah they are sold for V8's so you only need 1/2 the parts.
http://www.moroso.com/catalog/images/25900_part.jpg The 2 big things all the way to the right are for a V8 valve cover so you don't even use them. You weld the threaded pipe onto your downpipe and thread the next bronze thing (the one way valve) ontop of it. Than run a line from you valve cover to the valve. Now you have a functional way of decreasing sludge, less weight than a catch can and MORE POWER for the motor. When we put this on my friends turbo Honda the seals stopped leaking around the turbo and it stopped blowing smoke. Now again why would you want to spend $100 on a catch can when you can do this for $15.00 (sell the other half of the kit) |
