cast iron material for flange making
if i cant source an adapter for a t-25 onto an hf manifold for a decent price.. i'm considering cutting the flange off of an HF manifold and welding on one for the turbo... anyone know where i can source some decently thick cast iron?? my only idea is a cast iron frying pan.. they're cheap and.. well cast iron... anyone know of any other places to get it??

Re:cast iron material for flange making
it will cost you the same to make a cast one as it would to make a steel one. BMC sells nice steel adaptor plates, check out his ad in the for sale section

Re:cast iron material for flange making
uhm what?
u dont just buy pieces of cast iron, because it cant be joined well.. if you weld it the weld doesnt hold up very good. |
Re:cast iron material for flange making
correct me if i'm wrong..... but you cant weld mild steel to cast iron can you?? damnit.. screw it.. i'll just go w/ an adaptor...
thanks! -Clatyon |
Re:cast iron material for flange making
you can weld the two together, but its not recommended...ive done it on two manifolds that never cracked

Re:cast iron material for flange making
yeah i guess i'll just stick the the "adapter plate" method
next to find is a HX manifold... how do i identify it?? it has a "3" stamped on the 4th runner right? -Clayton |
Re:cast iron material for flange making
HF not HX. just go find one from a CRX hf, EG cx,dx, or vx, or 89-91 civic. or look up HF manifold on ebay
