Carbed setup
I'm going to build a carbed setup for my F20A2.
The car (1991 Accord EX) is equipped with a carb and i'm going to put a Weber 2bbl carb on it from a 2.3 V6. I'm going to use a T3 of a 91 Chrysler Daytona turbo II and make my own Manifold (log style). Does anyone know anything i should look at? The engine has a CR of 8.9:1 and 120000 miles on it. Thanks, Pj. |
Re:Carbed setup
Um how is it that your 91 is carbed? Ive had a 90 ex and a 91 dx and neither was carbed ??? ::)

Re:Carbed setup
When he said '91 and carbed I knew he was from europe...checked his profile and yup...it says he's from the Netherlands....we eve have carbed 1.3 D-series engine in EG's running around till '95 :-X

Re:Carbed setup

Re:Carbed setup
We get shafted with a lot of stuff...I dunno but here we get a lot of carbed cars till the mid 90's. :-X

Re:Carbed setup
I know where that is.
There has been a lot of Dutch guys coming to this site in the last few month's. good luck boosting you car. get a I think the weber should do it....get a FMU. |
Re:Carbed setup
Newbie question: FMU??
I already turbocharged a 4.4 Chevy V8 with a blowthru carb setup. 305 chevy is now also in progress to be turbo'ed. If this one is finished i'm going to start on my F20. Getting rid of all the vacuum and EGR sh*t is my main objective. There are like 30 vacuum pipes and hoses running around. And getting the carb to fit the manifold. Pj. |
Re:Carbed setup
hey semnos I heard the nederlands is the place in europe to go for hookups, I just linked up unlimited visionz, and thats where they go for the good ----, I might give ya'la visit in the future. probably in in 7 months...Germany sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re:Carbed setup
wouldnt worry about an FMU, as you want a 1:1 pressure ratio .
This is the regulator im using, as soon as I get all my pipework done: http://www.fluidcontrol.net/pages/regulators3.html Not too bad on price for a boost referenced reg, and is built like a tank. As for carbs, Id recommend going a different route...Pick up a set of Weber side Draughts...make a custom manifold, and turbo those bad boys... as far as prepping the carbs, your going to want to get a set of filled floats, or else your gonna have a set of taco's where the old ones where. |
Re:Carbed setup
How the heck did you turbocharge the 305? I have a 305 with a 4 barrel carb.. I want to boost but have no idea how to (with the carb).. :(

Re:Carbed setup
Read what Mista said....
Didn't you know that already rudebwoy?? |

Search around the FI area...I forget the username, but one of the Guys here turbo'd a Chevy pickup with a four-barrel. Used a stock air filter housing, welded it up tight, and routed the boost to the air horn. Some boost leak will occour, but hey, tis better than no boost. |
Re:Carbed setup
yup.
but I think he upgraded the stock filter housing to a homemade planum. |
Re:Carbed setup
For the 305 as well as the 267 i used an impco LPG carb hat that is used to hook up a LPG system to the carb. I used an Edelbrock 500 4 Bbl with solid floats and the choke removed entirely. For the 305 i will make some custom headers for the 267 i used the stock manifolds with a cross over pipe to hook it up. I used a mallory FPR with a GM TBI electric fuelpump.

Re:Carbed setup
the guy's name is cadracer, he is a personal friend of our admins.. in a little while he will respond to this post, just wait. He has a work in progress 1969 chevy truck (I think that was the year).. very HMT but very effective, I think he turbo'd a 289 (flat line built block).
good luck with the 305, please take lots of pics and share the info with us, many of us are v8 lovers (ME!). I'll probably be building one soon myself. |
Re:Carbed setup
I hate carbs, ---- getting gasoline on your hands in a simple task like modifying the fuel curve.
|
Re:Carbed setup
Well I hate electronics so...
|
Re:Carbed setup
carbs are cheap and easy. I would prefer a sequential fuel injection setup (standalone of course) for absolute best performance but I don't have a grand to spend on fuel managment.
If you don't mind the smell of gasoline on your hands then don't work on cars. Ya know if you put your hands over a lighter afterwards then the petrolleum will burn right off. |
Re:Carbed setup
Okay been awhile.
I just got a sidemount intercooler and a T3 from a mid 80's T-bird as well as my stainless tubing to make the manifold. I'm ditchin the Chrysler T3. Does anyone how the spooltime will be on this puppy?? It looks as a .63/.60 to me. Thnx |
