Its a VTG turbo (Variable Turbine Geometry). Pull off the turbine housing and post pics. :6

Here's a holset that aero put on his car, for referance.

Yours is probably off something VW diesel. The turbine inlet looks like the traditional KO3 style inlet slightly different though.

If you want to just unbolt the exhaust housing there are no worries. You dont have to take it off though.

Not sure if this would be a good turbo for your application, im not up on how to calculate for a VTG turbo.

You're coming off as a failvarian.

Which sealings are you worried about?

If you mean the oil seals you'll be fine, unless the VGT has some kind of retard proofing. Like that cap on medicine.

Rob beat me to it.

It's small, has oddball flanges, and is VGT which I wouldn't consider a positive for a small displacement 4 cylinder gas engine. Since you got it for free, talk it up, "ZOMG it's teh VGT!!!" on Ebay and make a few bucks off it. Buy an oil cooled and standard bearing T3 with normal flanges and be done.

I have to agree here. I dont think your at a point to consider such a thing just yet. More trouble than its worth.

that turbo looks similar to vnt on the shelby shadow csxs and thoughs engines were either 2.2l or 2.5l.
