Re: car running bad when weather is hot

ECU sees the high heat and pulls a shitload of timing and dumps fuel.......that along with the shitty air

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

so whats the solution to this problem?

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

McBoost 06-10-2008 09:31 PM

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

... and what intercooler (if any)?

ek 06-10-2008 11:10 PM

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

y8 bottom z6 head turbonetics t3 t4, no intercooler yet, missing link and about to get fmu. i know its a cheap setup but only for now

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

complaining about the issues, heat related.......and you have no IC?

Don't you see the problem?????

Also how do you have the cam and ignition timed?

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

ordering the intercooler tomorrow(maybe). well i dont have an adjustable cam gear yet and the dizzy timing is set on the first of the three lines you see (the one on top) does timing have anything to do with it? i also think my timing belt is off because when i set the timing to stock timing the car runs really crappy, it hesitates a lot(when car was still n/a). i was thinking it might be my distributor too, maybe the previous owner didnt intall it right. is there any way i could check this? thanks for the help guys

lmao, i love these threads. "I half assed my setup and it runs like ----.. ???, why????"

you should know why your car runs like ---- because your not running any fuel managment or intercooler with a ------- T3/T4 turbo BWAHAHAHA, hope you throw a rod through your block and it hits you in the nuts on your way home

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

well maybe fmu is better than nothing till i can afford other management. so how much would it cost to have a decent engine management? i have no idea with this things! so please help in detail

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

post your setup and i can tell you. but from your username i will guess that your obd2.

so here is what you will need

obd1 to obd2 conversion harness--40 used
chipped ecu---100 to 140
dsm 450's --60

might look expensive but way cheaper then wasting money on an fmu and new motor.

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

IC/ timing= FIX!!!

My stock teg runs the same way. I'm in the south. Cool, damp air makes my car run perfect (early morning) . Hot, shitty, humid weather (5pm, 100+ degrees) makes it run like a slug in salt.

Holy WOW! You're in SOCAL!! Tell me you don't know tuners! WTF? How do I set my timing? Wow.. To be honest with you guy, you just need to loosen your dizzy (that's HMT for distributor) bolts, and turn the bitch a little bit. You know where you idle should be.. RIGHT? :l . Don't forget to tighten them! Send ure ECU to Xenocron. Let him beef it a lil bit, and throw the bitch back in!

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

i know how to adjust the ignition timing but what im asking is where to set the timing(which line)? ok ill find a place to get my p28 chipped but for now u guys think having a fmu is better than nothing at all?( ill have my ecu chipped next week or next month as budget allows) will it make more power with the fmu compared right now that i dont have any engine or fuel management?

but first i gotta check whats wrong with the timing, i was thinkin it might be my timing belt off by a tooth or more with the camgear cause i remember a mechanic was saying something with the camgear is off by a tooth or something like that..........i dont know im just confused

I guarantee your nig a lig ecu/non-intercooler nigg3r setup is probably whats keeping your car falling on its face

Re: car running bad when weather is hot

Turn the distributor counterclockwise (correct me if i'm wrong) to retard the ignition timing if your gonna drive it without proper fuel management just to be safe then get your ecu chipped, also have that person (i.e. Xenocron) put a base map on there that way you can save up some $$ to tune and still have the car run alot better then an FMU would :6

Still, that's only a band-aid fix to a bigger problem. Something WILL ---- up sooner or later without engine management of some kind... God only knows what your A/F looks like, coupled with fucked up timing...

lol, please post back when something pops.

Dude,

Have a look at the SDS EIC2.

I had it on my car.. It looks GHETTO, but works awesome..

I'm actually selling it now, they are sometimes easy to get under $150.00 on E-GAY, but are normally $400 ish new...
