Default Car misfiring like crazy...

Been having a problem with my car and I wanted to see what you guys thought it might be... car has a custom turbo setup w/ a greddy emanage + larger injectors for fuel support.

car was running fine, and it runs pretty well when you first start running it... after awhile of driving it though, you hear the car start misfiring and it will get worse and worse to the point that when you step on it, it just misfires to the point that the car just wont go forward cause everytime you press the accelerator you just hear more gas exploding and the car not going anywhere

is it just running super rich or am i having a spark plug problem? or could be it be something else?

dont have a laptop w/ me so i cant hook it up to the emanage

So who tuned it? How long has the kit been on for? Did it ever run right?

sounds like your fuel map is all wrong. Cold enrichment too.

Put in some new plugs. Start it up from cold, let it run for maybe one minute, and then turn it off. pull your plugs, and take a reading. Note the color, there should be no carbon deposits. etc... Then, put the plugs back in, and run the car until it starts breaking up again. Without letting it get to idle, this is important..When it's breaking up, turn the Key off (so this would be better if you were just playing with the throttle in the parking lot.. You don't want to wreck). Then, pull your plugs again. You want to see the condition of what is going on when the problem is happening. Again, there should be no carbon, clean white porcelins, with just a little light brown patch showing where the flame travel is going.

Your description is pretty vague. But, how was your car setup the last time it ran right. What new parts have you put on. Can you pull one part off at a time to see what is the actual cause. Are you running to lean (plugs white and powdery), or to rich (black sooty, and wet). Is your ignition coil breaking down. Is your fuel pump up to snuff? Have you ever changed your fuel filter?

Sounds like something is wrong with your new computer/chip. But.. it could be alot causing problems like that. Give all the details you can!!

I had a similar problem in my N/A civic a while back. turns out the bearings in the dizzy were going bad, throwing off the distributor rotor. It got so bad that the rotor was actually cutting into the contacts on the distributor cap. Misfired like crazy. Had to replace the distributor.

Thats great and all but honda run lean at idle/in vac for fuel economy. Really reading plugs is useless unless your making a boosted run, turning the car off, coasting somewhere and pulling plugs.

Checking it right off the bat, is goign to give him an idea of what the plugs should look like. A little lean is no problem.

you think reading plugs is useless? if the problem can happen in the parking lot, then you don't need to get on the road. I didn't read where he needs to be in boost to make it act up. It just really needs to be warm. Besides, I'm not going to tell somebody to take their car out, run it into boost, and shut it off. My luck, they key would go just to far, lock the column, and cause an accident.

check ur spark plugs and wires... im talking about making sure 1 goes to 1 and 2 goes to 2 and 3 goes to 3 and 4 goes to 4 and NOT 1 wire goes to 4 etc..
