cant rev engine over 4k

Ive been lurking an seraching on here for a while and I just helpd my buddy finsh his turbo setup.

Problem is is that it wont rev over a certin rpm. Thing is it wont rev over a cretin rpm in a certin gear. Its diffrent form gear to gear. Its not a slow cut out sorta of feeling its very sudden and lurches the card forward its so qucik after you come back down from rev its fine.

Setup is

-92 civic hactch
-d16y8 with VTech
-14b turbo hooked up to a std manifold.
-shitty intercooler
-walbro 255lph fuel pump in the tank
-FMU + 450cc Dsm injectors with inline resistorsz which now I reliaze is way to much.
-missing link check valve.

Thing to note is the spedo doesnt work. Only reason I say this is when seraching around in here i found a post of a person with the same problem and plugged the vss in and was golden. Dont know if this is the case for me as I am not running an after market cpu only fmu + injectors..

From here I plan to take the fmu off and bring back to close stock fuel pressure and then apply the VAFC hack. Im hoping It will run with just the injectors for now. I realize its getting a huge amount of fuel at low rev and idle. VAFC should take care of that. Any suggestion are welcome. Also im sure theres a part in there I left out. Ill fill in the blanks to any questions.

The ECU's in LIMP MODE... Suck's balls I know. but that's no doubt what it is. I had the same problem... you can try to reset the ECU by undoing the neg battery cable for like 10 mins but when mine went in limp it got fried and I had to buy a new P28........

umm, so you are running 450cc injectors, an FMU, and a 255lph pump, i cant believe it idles, much less revs at all. you have to have some kind of management to control the bigger injectors.

Yes I found this out as soon as I tried to start it. It smoked more than an 18th century locomotive. I figured better safe than sorry on this whole fuel management thing.

Ill try the limp mode thing. Ive swapped out the ecu a few times between two that I have that are the same. Maybe something is putting it into limp mode as soon as I start it?

well what ecu are you running? If you're running the P2P that came with the y8 then you should have at least 2 or 3 check engine lights. And since that's an OBD2 ecu it will save any codes, they don't just go away like with OBD1. Now if you're running a P28 or something then that definately simplifies things but first thing's first. Ditch that FMU and get the hack running right.
