cant get my Effing oil pan off..

I cant get my oil pan off for the life of me! All the bolts are off, the flywheel casing is off, every bolt nothing holding it on!

I cant get a screwdriver in there, I cant get it off with a crow bar, and the rubber mallet is being worthless. Any suggestions? I been pounding at it for a while (all day) nothing.

It is cold in my garage will that play any roll in getting the damn thing off? should i warm it up with a heater?

you're not supposed to do this, but get a medium/regular size screwdriver and a hammer it into the crack between the block/pan... do this on about 2-3 different spots and it will come down... just be careful not to scrape the mating surfaces...

Make sure you get all the bolts off, I think there was a post a while back where a guy made that mistake.

Re:cant get my Effing oil pan off..

Tried talking dirty to it. I think i just pissed it off.
Im considering jamming a screwdriver in the drain hole tearing it down and getting a new oil pan... which will SUCK

I read the last post a guy wrote about this problem. He didnt see two bolts... all mine are off

Re:cant get my Effing oil pan off..

maybe put a socket on the drain bolt(or get a longer bolt) and try prying it

Re:cant get my Effing oil pan off..

I think i might buy the biggest baddest rubber mallot, Pull the sucker back and letter rip. and go from there. anyone know how big they make rubber mallots? i want a fucker that is so big its hard to lift

Re:cant get my Effing oil pan off..

I'd recommend getting a bolt with the same thread as the drail plug and screwing it into the pan. That will give you some leverage to pull on it. It shouldn't be all that hard if you have every nut off. I remember it being a little stubborn, but not as bad as you're making it out to be.

Re:cant get my Effing oil pan off..

Now that i look at the oil pan... it looks like its been caulked or JB welded on. Its got some dryed ooze coming out of it. Is that the gasket? or is that ---- glued on? I tried prying, pounding and tried the bolt in the drain plug, What the hell should i do now??

Re:cant get my Effing oil pan off..

It sounds like someone used some gorilla snot (liquid gasket maker) on it. I'd get a pry bar with a 90º angle to it and just jam it under and get it broken apart enough to get a razor blade around it to cut it off. If it was JB welded on, you're screwed. You'll just have to beat it till the seal breaks and plan on buying a new oil pan.

Re:cant get my Effing oil pan off..

Mine was as hard as you describe. I came on here half way through the install and asked everyone in chat WTF to do. They all said "It should come off..." etc, etc.
I know how it feels. You REALLY have to beat the ---- out of it... and once it cracks, you'll know it. Then it slides off like butter. We had me and my friend hanging on it... (almost 400lbs...), etc etc. Just NAIL it from all sides, as hard as you can. It will give. I spent almost 3 hours doing it to both mine and my freinds D. NO FUN, but the turbo is :P

Good luck.

Re:cant get my Effing oil pan off..

Ok. tonight im taking a huge mallot to it, Got a right angled crow bar, and a puddy knife to jam in it with a hammer. Im going to try everything you all said and let you know how it went.
Thanks for the help

Re:cant get my Effing oil pan off..

DONT pry it off!!! there is a sealant put on the oil pan gasket from the factory that creates a seal. i generally just tap on the pan from all sides w/ a rubber mallet and it falls right off. just tap the pan on the sides. not extremely hard but with a little force and you'll break the seal easy.

Re:cant get my Effing oil pan off..

haha, reminded me of when i had trouble taking my pan off. the "ooze" is silicone gasket maker and it's there for a purpose. the right way to take the pan out is to use a pry bar, NOT the kind you use to take out nails, but the kind that you find next to the putty knives at Home Depot. Remember to scrape off the old silicone and apply a new bead.

or

you get the idea, you just tap the flat end in between the pan and the block and it'll come off with just a little tug, comes on in less than 2 min. ;)

the crappy ozz/gorilla snot is called hondabond. use black silicon sealer on both sides of the gasket and dont smooth it out. you wont have any leaks.
